Whatever the reasons were, if staff could not produce evidence of such, does it justify punishing everybody? It seems to me like plain disrespect. But, since it is all water under the bridge, unless quick action is taken, they will have the same problems as before. I say let's stop this BETA and open to noobs; they are the levelling factor.

There is not going to be another gold wipe.
I made sure before i even brought the idea up to broadband that all the systems would be in place to ensure we NEVER have to deal with the crap that caused that wipe again. And we won't. If someone even finds something remotely economy killing it shows up with a bright freaking red-flag on my phone/email within 24 hours.
90% of the reason for the gold wipe was because there was literally 97%+ of all the gold in the world was duped.
If you watched the buying/selling forums over the past 4 years, you'll notice that the inflation took a nasty turn and pretty soon you ended up with people asking 4x the price for some goods. (the main duping bug was first introduced around 4.7 years ago, was fixed off and on and new ones came in as old ones were fixed, etc). Basically unless a player had not had any contact with the economy and just did buying/selling form vendors and hunting, they were affected.
Anyone who sold items to people who were abusing the bug were also affected. As was anyone they gave gold too, etc, etc. It cascades pretty fast. So even if you are a legit player, you still would end up with way too much duped gold because of how it flows through the economy. So you see it wasn't as simple as just punishing the bug abusers at the point i was able to do something about it.
Yes, houses are gonna be more expensive. It was stated earlier that houses were NOT adjusted for the creep inflation when all the loot on monsters was raised to try to counteract the early bug abuse inflation based gold problems. To try to re-level it. So houses became uber cheap. A house in one hour or less was not uncommon for some of the higher players.
Someone owning enough houses to completely cover cove territory in small houses(was done) and being able to pay the taxes on them just by hunting is not exactly the plan here

I always thought it was kind of stupid having houses all over the place as well. I have only ever had 2 houses at a time my entire time on obs and would not want more than that even if they were free.

no i think that is kind of stupid limiting people on houses, if someone wants to spend every penny they earn on obs paying taxes then so be it. I just think that if it was far too cheap to own 5-6 houses that would be gay.

set up in the same location, usually blocking off large chunks of land

well this can be done in time anyway....
7.5k isn't going to stop people who want to do that from doing that with time...
as iori said, the house per area limit or house per account limit is the only way to prevent this......
this increase just annoys people. and with the economy as is. 50k is already a huge increase in the work value of a house. increasing this further just worsens the situation, don't expect prices to drop on craftables like my previous post explained...
also.. if a bug caused this.. I can understand a gold wipe,, but instead of pushing to lower the prices on everything. why not just fix the bug?
if what your last post was true, your actions after the wipe don't make sense...
it would seem allot simpler to just fix the bug (as im sure you did ALSO)..and leave the hunting and tables the same. we would have got what we wanted and so would you.. also it would have saved alot of scripting where you had to rescript the loot table.....
seems to be alot of extra work.. with no real cause behind it... was there anything else that would justify the extra work?
