IMPORTANT PLEASE REASE BEFORE LOGGING INTO OBSIDIAN
10 kills and you are concidered a murderer. Currently there is NO kill decay or kill removal system in place. We have implimented several in the past but usually we have the following problem:

1. make it moderately difficult for people to recover kill counts, problem is even moderately difficult means tha PK's can still work their asses off killing thousands of zombies to recover lost karma and kills.

2. make is very very difficult for people to recover kill counts, but problem is then noone wins. PK's would be the only ones ever able to get kill counts down after a period of time and newbies still suffer.

3. Use a head system like we've done in the past where heads put on a pole make the PK lose stats and kill counts. This has been a gppd system unfortunately as well has been abused where 2 people working together ended up getting 100K of gold in an hour or so.

4. Just plain use the system we are using now where killing 10 people and you are a perminent MURDERER. I'm sick and tired of every other page being "I accidently killed my friend and now I'm red, make me blue please?".

SO FROM HENCE FORTH:
1. If you want to spar do it in an arena, you don't rack up kills in an arena. If you want to goto an arena, goto Haven and then use the 1 on 1 arena there or use the Jhelom arena which there is now going to be a perminant portal to there from haven.
2. Ask to be made blue and get an immediate .kill. Ask again and receive jail time.
3. I will talk to BB about making kills decay over time and time alone and only after your kills drop below 10 will you be able to work your way from -10K Karma up toward being blue again.

and yes i think kills should decay over time....
10hrs a kill like b4,

How about making it the way it used to be. Order and chaos can f*** each other up and loot and attack each other in town and neutral players cannot attack other players. Log outs should be only inside inns, not just inside town that way people wont complain about "he logged out before i killed him" Grey players can be killed by both order and chaos.
This would eliminate all problems and the red system.

gotta have a red system....the right amount of reds make the game more fun.

On the other hand...perma-red is not the way to go...maybe if someone has 100 kills perma red is justified, but for someone who has 11 kills to be red untill further notice??I dont like it.

*note* a lot of the people with 100 kills only decided to have them because they were stuck with 11 kills a few months ago

I accept your guys policy, but I think it's too oversimplified for the same reason that Azimuth stated: its bad for everyone when there's more people becoming red than are becoming blue, and even if technically it's that person's fault, that doesn't mean they are the only person who is affected by it

lets face it theres hardly any pvm here. everythings blocked off. this shard is 90% pvp and 10% pvm and thats just to make money or get regs. when all you can do is fight each other, its not good if you have an iffy red/blue system. basically right now a players choices are ... craft/die of boredom....pvm/die of boredom hunting same 2 dungeons everyday..or pvp/stay red /never allowed in town /no way to redeem yourself= pretty much 0 reason to log on. let me point out that i dont have a red character and dont plan to. but i am also dying of boredom. if there was a reasonable red system i may consider experimenting a bit but i dont want to risk being screwed permanently. all your rules are based on the assumption that there is actually something to do here besides pvp. i would love to pvm more if only we had more open places/dungeons/room. not many players but jeeez it seems crowded with like a few places to hunt total. im like, "oh someones killed THE dragon (not A dragon, THE dragon, meaning one freaking dragon on the entire shard.) ill come back in an hour. i work 60 hours a week and have a wife and 2 kids, but thats ok, i got time to wait for THE dragon to spawn." ooh look there goes a red guy, and another, and another,. i will say that fixing wind was very very cool it has helped some.

i agree with exodus on various levels but looting between chaos and order will lead to too much bitching...besides that i think everythings right...notice if u log off in inn's then less people will log out in the runestone chamber and risk 5 minutes of who knows wat...

I agree with what exo said, logging out in inns and houses is a great idea, same as every other shard ever in existance, and thats cool :D

I agree with Drizzt...There's nothing to do here but pvp...Crafts may be kewl for a while, but eventually it gets boring and Obs has shit to hunt compared to every other shard I've logged unto...

You wonder why you lose players, well, nothing to do would be a big kicker...Why stick around on Obs if there's nothing to do...And sure, some people find great challenges thinking up new stuff like collecting one of every weapon out there (btw, how's that comin' Tink..?) but for us normal, run-of-the-mill guys who want to adventure, what does Obs have to offer..? Seriously guys, compared to other shards, Obs has almost nothing to offer but the great players that are on it...

We need more dungeons to hunt, more places opened and more leverage on the tons of stuff that's shut off because a few people found a way to abuse it...I love this shard like so many others of us, but I feel like I'm in one of my old relationships, where every day I hope and beleive that today things will be different...Today I'll get some staff feedback that makes me feel like I'm being listened to...Today I no longer have to be frustrated by the lack of staff to player communication, the lack of feedback from staff, the lack of spawns/boats/closed places/removed skills...*sighs*

Sorry about ranting, but I'm hearing more and more bitching about Obs online than I used to and I'm finding it harder and harder to justify my pro-Obs argumentation and it's killing me...I just want Obs to be a great shard... :cry:

sure it would be great to log out in your house but someone could jus sneek into ur house and log out and wait till ur not on and jak all ur shit, and also all the ppl runing from Pk's can jus log out in their house which would be gay cuz anyone whos worth killing has a house near were ppl PK....so in the end there wouldnt be much killin :wink:

other than that i say logging out in inns is a very good idea.

and yeah i think we should temporarly put bak the kill decay system till further developments have been put into play.
cuz the whole shard will be red in a few days.....

I think Daffy summed up the main reason for people leaving pretty well but he left out the part where pvp gets boring as well. After you win a few tournaments and do some pking you just stop cause it gets boring like everything else. However, posting this is a waste of time, I doubt staff will do anything about what Daffy said.

heheheheheh anytime i just wanna get away from pvp i just go PvM on my cheap ass little shard, and since im admin on it I can put any kind of spawn anywhere, make myself a dungeon in about a full day and crap, works wonders, cept there's no players :(

Theres all these new and exciting additions to the shard...but...where are they? they might be put in already...but nothings being completed, the vendors...will they be fixed? will we be able to buy anything from them? Then theres the necro patch...but theres reg gardens...put in...but never completed :? and then theres the kill system...its all screwed up in so many ways lol
