Ok so,
yesterday I went hunting approximately for 2 hours and gained 0.0% in Necromancy and 0.1% in meditation.
today I have been training casting Total Protection for 2 hours and gained 1.4% meditations and 0.9% necromancy.
Guess there's something wrong on your system Bob, things ain't working like you said they were supposed to..

At least you are actually gaining. Don't you know I'm STILL not GM Magery? LOL
I think I've been in the mid-to-high 60s for like over a year. Sure, part of it I don't have as much time to play as I like, another part is I don't just spam spells... I try to use them when hunting but mainly gains are just slowwww for some skills.

The skill gain system varies...
Every 24 hours you get 1 hour (powerhour) where your gains are very quick than it goes back to regular.
Im guessing you hit the powerhour during your successful training.
Necromancery is a odd skill theres some skillpoints where its nearly impossible to train and some where its easy as dirt to train. For instance I got stuck at like 77.1 and 99.9 for months before getting that skill point but once i got it, it zoomed by.
Anyways i dont think theres nothing wrong with system the reason you think is broken is cause your used to the old system. By "Hunting" your probley using the death flame which isnt as highly required of that skill as total protection. Total protection is alot better to train with.
Example of this is back than we used to train spell resist with fireball cause it was a better skill gainer than attacking yourself with magic arrow..
Also while hunting ur not continually using fireball ur healing looting and doing other stuff as for total protection you were purley training that.
P.S. Old system is you could gain with anything as long as your using the skill. On this new system you have to use high level skill requirements to be successful in training otherwise it would not train. Like if you try making dagger which is like 0.1 skill requirement after you get to 20.1 u cannot gain from it no more. But bob tweaked it a little bit so you can gain but it will be VERY slow compared to something at 20.0 skill requirement

alchemy has a huge wall in gains I finally passed it but damn those 10.0 points were extreme....could of died of boredom.
Gains are much faster than before GM Bob took over so can't complain about it....

I mean for necromancy Im not sure how long it takes to gain but I do know when I went hunting on my necro it gains randomly and not alot especially hunting. I remember hunting for skeleton bones using just necro spells and I would gain .1 for like 3 - 4 hours... if that.
