Alright the new house system is now in full effect, as always report any bugs you find here.

The new way to lock things down is to say "I wish to secure". Please note that that only works when you are standing INSIDE the house zone, so if you have a wall of items make sure to leave 1 square you can walk into the zone in, so you can use lock/unlock commands.

Packhouse should be working fine as well, so good luck on converting your houses.

A note on the new lockdown/secure policy, and taxes:

Taxes aren't in yet, you all get a few months of free taxes while we decide how we're going to do it with the new economy.

Each house has a maximum number of "secure" items. This includes all items in secure chests, as well as any locked down items. You can upgrade this amount for gold at your house sign, to a maximum of 200%. What this means is for smaller houses, you will want to keep your most valuable items inyour secure chest, and others in nonsecure containers, if you are running out of space.

Okay I got my house all set up... but it says it is public, and anyone can just walk up and enter. How do I make it private?

point a mouse on a house sign and there should apear some text(sorry dont remember what it says), you need to click text and there will apear a window with security levels.

Public just means anyone can walk on the land. We are not allowing private houses, due to the fact that on obsidian we have yards. If you want to try to prevent people from walking on your lands, use rocks and stuff to make walls.

Private land houses are just a general crimp to pvp, because that means you take 1 step onto your house and you're instantly safe.

Doors are still only openable by owners and people owners designate, unless you make them public doors.

Okay. I think I understand now.
I didn't know the new housing system allows us not to use keys, then I got all confused thinking just anyone could walk in my house.

wasnt house wipe coming with new house system ?

Sure they could do a wipe right now, but you see, all houses have about 16 days remaining before decay. The wipe would do little effect. I am sure you are eyeing a nice little mine entrance or something, but you will just have to wait I guess. The houses will auto-decay without a wipe, I believe, as programmed to do. No wipe necessary. So keep your pants on for now.

what about guild houses i thought u can allow access to certain guilds and stuff like thtat?

Yeh, I tried that guild thingy, doesn't work for me.

Cant place any houses where they were before its always got "something in the way" and when i placed it in the wrong spot i clicked "cancel" and it didnt give me my deed back.

whats the new rules to where you can place a house or not?

cause everytime i try it says no building can go there or some such and theres clearly enough space, no trees or rocks. its kinda near a path and a cliff but not over lapping.... any ideas?

I had my house placed for my tamer at one of the spawns, now i too got that message that something is in the way, so i had to go a bit away from spawn and placed it without any problem. Maybe your having same issue
