i met a guy on starcraft today and introduced him to Obsidian, but he cant create an account, so i decided to connect with a proxie and try and i got the same error he did, Web Page Could Not Be Displayed blah blah blah

im gettin this kid on obsidian ASAP but could i get staff to make him an account til the account creation gets fixed? ill have him make a forum account so yall can PM it to him.

I suggest you send a PM to an Admin with the details you are requesting

You know if we want any kind of player base at all these things really should be looked into ASAP. For example i recently reformatted my PC and when i reinstalled Obs I can't connect to the patcher now for some reason. I have done all th known fixes and it still doesn't work. And I have to say that if i hadn't already played Obs and known the difference between this and other shards at this point i would have moved on to play something else. These things definately can't be helping the player base for sure.

BB made a lot of changes to the website for the up coming 8 year anniversary. He might have broken account creation in the process. He was back in Oregon for the new year, I'm sure he'll get things fixed now that he's back home in Denver. I'll let him know there's account creation issues he should look into.

FYI talked to BB and apprently accounts are flowing in just fine. 40 new accounts just this week in fact thanks to good advertising kick apprently. So I dunno, maybe have your friend try again?

Is your username and password still emailed to you? If it is i would advise not to use a hotmail account. Hotmail filters a lot of stuff as spam and it doesn't even make it in to your junk mail folder.

40 new accounts, and no new players on..

The problem is that they do not recieve the mail... that's the main one tho...

The other problem is this damn installer not working...and it should be changed IMO because many ppl tryied to play and they got discouraged by the patcher not working and stuff like that... I liked obsidian a lot because it had this auto-installer that at the time worked properly.. so I think that a new installer should be released or at least this one changed so that if you have Vista or Xp or whatever it will work fine without any problems with manual patches or net framework or whatever!

Yeah Ambient - that side of things should be fine.

The reason that very few of the new accounts are making it in-game is that it's just too darn hard to get the game working...

If you have Vistea you need 'special instructions'

If you don't have Vistea you need 'special instructions'

So basically we're relying on people coming on the forums to read the Help/Support section to fix the patcher before they can get in game.


Perhaps AT LEAST we could have a link to the Help/Support section under the 'Account Creation' Tab saying 'if you have trouble getting in game, try a few of these suggestions'?

Actually just upon all the updates on website (and namely "no more spam
witholding you") I tried it too. So I fired up up sum proxy and said fire go!!
And nope. I can't even paste the error page it showed me cause that'd
again infringe all of the site's architecture.

Just why this change was decided upon I guess..

spammin on battle net, over 200 hits to the link in my profile and not 1 new person on obsidian.. wonderful eh?

new accounts flowing in? how many have 1 character created on their account or have ever logged onto obsidian
