I've even seen threads created recently openly attacking the shard admin. BB OWNS THE SHARD.

Well, Thass you locked that one. "end of dicussion" seems to be the way you "win" your arguements. But not only did you just flat out tell a WHOPPER of a LIE in that last post, but you just walked away, the poll was against you, it had nothing to do with FLAME THREADS or BREAKING the rules, or your incompitance as a forum mod. Simply put it was to change the staffs perception on what flaming really is, and give people the freedom to express a bit more of their negative side.

I not saying let, people bitch about BB, he's got the shard up his job is done. Anything else he does is iceing on the cake, and he gives generous icing. He's my bro, and I would litterally kill or die for him, and beat the ever loving **** out of anyone that badmouths him.

Never contributed anything to this shard ever? Nearly every player on Obsidian has contributed something. Ashes and LP have, I know. I've tested more bugs and new features than you think have been added to this shard, I spent 24hrs on a bus each way just so I could show up at a big event to help rep Obsidian, stamp CD and show my support, and if it weren't for me showing my support for BB this shard would have been 6 feet under almost 4 years ago.

So I want you to take that notion that because you are staff you've done more for Obsidian than any players, and shove it firmly up your ass where it belongs.

Guys, as much as I agree on some points, posting numerous threads will not help against a forum admin..

I shared my point of view with Thassius in IRC and told him he should work on being a Seer before being a Forum Admin.. because what use is a forum admin when only 10 people play the shard

So hopefully something will come of that, I dont agree that the forum mod team should be just locking things, unless they are completely out of order.

Just because someone speaks out against the staff, doesn't mean they are wrong, you should try to prove to them otherwise, not just lock shit and be like "this is how it is.. suck it up"..

I have to say Duncan that I was impressed to find a post slightly less hotheaded than your usual input... and constructed in a mature manner... until I saw the comment regarding my ass. I'd prefer not to insert anything into it, thanks, but what you do in private is up to you.

While you may know BB, and you may have contributed to Obsidian in the past, I feel it is safe to say that in recent times this level of contribution has been slim to none. This is why I find the stance with which you pitch your views towards me and other players offensive. In evidence of this I have had to forum suspend you for a week recently due to past misconduct towards others. This decision was supported by all moderators and players I spoke to.

Sometimes, Duncan, you have to appreciate that there are those that see a wider view of Obsidian than even you.

The perspective that I have garnered whilst being moderator/staff/forum admin (as in life) is that those who are most vocal and have the strongest voice are not necessarily always right. Just because their arguments are the loudest does not make them the most valid.

Although I am in such a position I spend alot of time just reading posts of all kinds to get a feel for the current trends in the playerbase. Anyone who has PMed me in the past knows that I listen to everything constructive - good and bad - as long as it is presented politely.

Whilst it is clear that some of you would like more flaming on the forums... it is also safe to say that alot of the players most vocally in support of this are those that are often disruptive, rude and insulting towards others. Many of them have previously been warned for conduct towards other players and/or staff. These people will most certainly not be allowed to speak for our shard.

In actual fact, I have recieved countless PMs in my tenure here from people who are not happy with the way others have spoken to or treated them. These are the people who's opinions and feelings I have a responsibility to champion. This is why I may not be as willing to accept 'demands' from certain members of the playerbase - because I am in a better position than most to see all sides of player opinion - not just yours.

I have actually spoken with the moderators fairly recently about a 'less is more stance', so perhaps we will find the forums settling into a compromise?

My personal feeling is that

a) We will see how it goes if we let a little more flames go on

b) Those who cross the line too far will still be disciplined as per the forum rules

c) I will look into perhaps relaxing the word filter list a little (which was not tightened by me in the first place) to try and encourage a little more free expression within posts.

d) Again, if this is abused it will be dealt with we WILL be keeping an eye on the situation intently

So, in summary. If you want a little more freedom to flame each other on the boards then go for it. HOWEVER in defense of those players that do NOT want this (of which there are many) we will be watching carefully. Anyone who chooses to abuse this trial of leniency must be prepared to face the consequences as per the forum/shard rules.

PS. I like BB too which is why I'm still here. What has he been up to anyway? Haven't seen him about for a while.

PPS. I've actually been chatting to CV about wanting to spend more time ingame, I agree with Ashes (which he will tell you doesnt happen often) so I hope to see you all ingame. Now that I've got new moderators I'm going to let them take the reigns for a bit so I can concentrate on Obs...
Believe it or not the reason I have been focussing on the forums and more moderators is so that I can get back into game more AND get some new counsies appointed!

PPPS. Your previous thread was locked because it was rude. This one I will allow to remain open because it is worded better. It is true that this is not a dictatorship - but to all of you if you want to talk diplomatically then the tone of your posts must reflect that.

Feel free to respond, I hope that the above is a good solution and we can all work from there.

I think that is pretty much all that these "selective" players wanted, to be able to say their mind as if they were actually talking to someone, instead of trying to word it politely enough to get past the forum admin.

Man you guys need to start banning people on the spot for talking sh!t about admins just so others see ohh crap he got banned, maybe I shouldnt talk sh*t... I mean some of the stuff was true, but alot was over exageration... and I don't know whats been going on since I left... so I will just leave it here... But man, you guys should have some respect to admins, thats the only reason this shard exists, I mean when I still played, people were talking sh*t to BB and hes the reason you even play here, without him this shard would not be here, so if you have no respect for the admins, then download UO and UOG and start playing all those shards...

Sorry for the double post.. but this comment by one of the staff is exactly the censorship I'm talking about.. we have a thread on smoking weed and it gets locked because it is talking about "illegal activity"..

Now, Echo, I love ya to peices, and you do a great job, but this was completely out of line.

I'll admit, the thread was going down a bad path with the "wee" stuff, but by no means is discussing using drugs illegal. This is a free country, and talking about smoking weed will not get you in trouble, hell, smoking it will even rarely get you in trouble.

This thread was locked for no real reason, people talk tons about illegal activities on this shard, yet I don't see those being locked.

You guys treat us like a bunch of 2 year old children, while some of us may act it at times, we don't need to be treated that way from the staff.

I'm fairly sure we are all mature enough to make our own choices on smoking weed, and I'm fairly sure we are all mature enough to have a discussion about it aswell.
