Yup, those are 'real' metal swords although the edges are blunt and they're made for balance rather than smashing power...Weight is between 1-1.5 kilos...Our combat style is very fast an precise, our attacks are merly taps on the killzones...
Killzones include the entire torso, shoulders from a 45 degree angle where the arm is attached and to the neck, and legs above the knee for slash attacks...Jabs cannot kill on the legs (not sure why really)...
The weapons we fight with are swords, saxes (bladed weapons that are only sharp on one side and lengthed from knife to about 90 cm), spears, axes and dane-axes (two-handed axes with a handle that's about the size of the person wielding it)...
It's good fun if you don't mind the tons of bruises we get and fortunatly our accident rate is low, but sometimes someone will need a few stitches and most of us wear teeth- and knee protectors...
