This in my opinion would be an excellent solution. I don't think we use npc's in obsidian to their full potential. We really more on msn and buying and selling which is sometimes hard to line up time wise.
I think it would be fun if this was something for all trade goods not just fish...
For instance, you sell your wares to a "Broker" NPC (one in each town) who then lists the items for sale on a central trade hub much like the 'Vendor Lodge' areas we've had before.
Obviously this NPC would need to be scripted to distribute the item to the correct vendor in the lodge.
For instance we would presumably have a section for weapons, and then a tent for each weapon type eg swordsmanship weapons, and the NPC would display the items in price order.
While this is certainly quite an ambitious idea, hopefully it's possible!
Perhaps if Sparger codes the fishing one as 'proof of concept', we could look to use this model to develop a more elaborate trade system like modern MMOs.
I'm hoping that the lag/stability issues we had with the old vendor lodge(s) will not be an issue now with all the client/server updates we've had.
