How about a public chat that works just like guild/party chat, but where all players can read it, obviously with high spam restrictions.

Yeah not going to happen anytime soon.

Ingame chat (even the group chat) reduces talk ingame. Obsidian without talking would be a very sad thing.

(Unless Raptor's talking, in which case no talking is a very good thing)

I agree; there's something special about meeting at the bank to chat in the traditional way on Obsidian :)
