You're also assuming that everyone has all the time in the world. I work 40 hours a week, not to mention that I haven't played in over 4 years. I'm also starting out completely over with no items, no money, and virtually no memory of the numerous locations that I used to train a new character in, not to mention that the shard has vastly changed in those 4 years. So apparently, I shouldn't be given the same privilege that any other new character starts out with because of the age of my account? If you're arguing that my vet rewards counter that fact, that's not particularly valid considering a cap of 740 vs 680 does me no good when a month is not nearly enough time to make that in any way useful.

I believe you're trying to say axiom, when you mean idiom. In either case, you seem to have missed my point. How does having an added benefit for a character's endgame have any relevance at all to its first month? If this game had character levels, that would be like saying being able to reach level 51 instead of level 50 warrants being penalized between levels 1-10. As for myself, my time in Cove has already come and gone; I'm simply using it as an example to point out the slippery slope of what you're suggesting.

well thing is people will reach level '50' before there able to get the '51' from extra skills anyway.
get what im saying?
the noob will reach 50 and have to wait there, for the vet gains, as the same noob with an older account will be able to move on to 51 as soon as they get to 50

You've just proven my point. Unless you're arguing that someone can reach that "level 50" in their first 4 weeks, being able to reach level 51 has absolutely nothing to do with those first 4 weeks. Even if it were possible to train your character that far in that short a time, there's no possible way you'd even have to time to PvP as well, also making it irrelevant to this thread. It seems to me that your problem is with the vet rewards themselves.

I think that someone that has played long enough in this shard and makes a new character should get
a little decrease, but not a large decrease. Maybe revert it back to 2 weeks.
At this moment it is 1 month regardless if you are new or not.
So new players (true new players) get the month of poofing to learn the ropes.
Old players (those that have played for a year or more) should recieve 2 weeks.
Makes sense. Seems like a credible way to look at this situation of poofing.

Except b4 you could train a decent char in a week, now you are lucky to get half assed in a month, dependong on what type of char you are trying to train.

The skills that I see would be a problem to train now is: magery, resist, anatomy (takes longer to acutally
macro), healing (gains a little slower than I remember), and maybe poisoning.
Other than that I see no problem with training. Just look at Hemlock. Guy GMd most of his skills by just
macroing healing at Cove GY (as did I to a certain extent).
Unless your ass had nothing to do for a week I could see a decent character coming from that amount.
2 weeks was the max to being able to traing a decent character in the old system.
Again, unless you had a full week free, then I could see a decent character come from a weeks training.

Parrying and healing are MUCH easier to gain than when I started training so dunno what you're referring to about it taking ages to build up a decent char.
I think 2 weeks of poofing for everyone was fine. Sure some people can play the game way more than others and gain an advantage because of it but this is UO. Eventually people will have to learn how to cope with dying and really - it only takes a few hours to build up a semi decent character to the point where you don't die every two seconds.
I liked players losing their poofing status if they gained 1 kill or turned criminal because it meant new players stayed away from pvp and instead worked up their skills.

Does not take long at all to train a character in this new system. If anything I macro'd at Cove GY for at
at least 3 or 4 days just to get my tactics and healing up. Once those were up, I started hunting and
training that way.
A decent character in this system could probably occur, like Duck mentioned, around a couple hours of
either macroing or buying/training the skills.
The only problem I see is that you wont have a strong enough character to PvP well in that time.

yes but at the same time the noob has to wait ex years to get the same thing the vet has, and the vet didnt even play for those amount of years...
so if your a vet and want the 1 month time, create a new account.... simple as, tell a gm get ur old account banned and start a new account... if you really think it's even, i doubt you will do that for 2 more weeks of poof time tho..

Still think overall that 2 weeks should be enough.
2 weeks to poof, but you have a month to be able to visit Cove. So even if you dont poof anymore, you
can still use Cove Gy and the Orc Fort to train safely still.

How about resist? Or magery? I have no idea about melee skills because they are all done on my chars but that is why i said depends on which type of char you train.

Resist I still havent seen a gain. Been hunting elementals and mages and no gains as of yet.
Magery is still going smoothly, but I havent reached the higher level spells yet.
