I disagree. I do not think it is selfish at all to think that all players should have the same perks regardless of when they started playing. If walls are not allowed now then noone should have them. Regardless of how much effort or money was put into them back in the day if they are no longer available than they should no longer be available to anyone.

what is your reasoning behind him not nuking ALL rare items?
including
dye tubs
all your rare clothes
barneys ride (lawl)
half of the shards full mage books
and those precious runes there was a riot for recently
halloween costumes (white dem bones customes especially)
half the black clothes besides the ones obtainable by the NPC
ATMs

because as far as fairness is concerned, there exactly the same as the walls
staff given at only a certain points in obsidian history( yes all the clothes that were dyed with those rare dye tubs would have to go to) walls just like these items are tradable by all means...

half the items were earned legit through events and auctions, so hell to what you say unless u wanna give up every rare on obsi...

As I see it it would be awesome if staff could open up the possibility of allowing more walls to be bought
and have new players a chance to get them.

If not, then I see no point in really nuking it. Sure I mentioned nuking it previously, but that was more of
a "jk" momment. Im sure a lot of people worked hard for all the rares that they have recieved over the
years of playing.

Like Sub mentioned, you want to nuke the walls, might as swell give up every rare in Obsidian to the nuke.

i dont see anything wrong with walls unless you block a spawn point or something of the sort. if you manage to pay for every square of land youre blocking off then its legit, and its not a big deal...

I have a few problems with walls... and rare items.

Walls I WAS around when they were built I was also NOT allowed to ever purchase them when I had the money to do so... So Im with Belg on this nuke them and dont compensate its one thing to use the lockdown tiles for the house or what ever to block off an area, but gm placed walls go far beyond that imo.

I have gotten several rare items before that were deemed "not suitable" some I even bought AT VENDORS, like when the only dye tub a person could purchase was a black one and it was 20K, after the long period of no player base shard lagging and then after that the boom that brought alot of people here it was deemed as such and removed... I didnt even get my 20k that i spent for it back.

A black llama, i forget who took that away even though it was a gift from BB i was not compensated for it.

so i do have some problems with this mainly because whats fair for some is not fair for all which really pisses me off.

Also consider this I have played here through what i think now is 3 housing whipes the server litterally closing happening to come across it agian and it having reopened. and several major staff changes and rule changes and a f****** crazy Counsler taking the server over...

and if u didnt earn that llama, didn't buy it , just got it because bb said hey i like you, damn right it should be takin away, people payed for the rest of the rares, that llama wasn't.

also there was a golden llama out there also, players took care of that tho

as far as your black dye tub, unless it was creating some sort of disturbance in the shard i dont think it should have been deleted.

but all in all the people who dont want walls still up or people to be compensated just seem to be bitter.

the llama was basically a gift from BB he is the owner of the server... what gives any other staff member the right to take it away? i mean... its f***** BB last i checked he could do what he wanted...

The point is rares and vet points are still accessible. Any rares can be bought as long as someone sells them, vet points can be earned. Can walls be bought or earned? No. So that is a totally different scenario.

actually belgarion, according to your situation, yes walls can be "bought" just like rares can be "bought", except by bought you mean traded.

It really isn't a different scenario, which is why it's hard to deal with. I don't care what rares someone has, since usuaully everyone had the chance or a fair chance to get them at the time.

I do want to point out that the only difference between walls and making a wall out of houses, currently, is that walls are more permanent. With taxes disabled there is no effective "cost" difference and the people who buy houses are probably paying a ton less than the walls cost others.

From a balance perspective, i want all walls, atm chests, etc gone. But also from a balance perspective, i need an exchange proposal that people are happy with and broadband's happy with since they were granted by staff in a transaction of good faith. If people want to wall areas, they can pay taxes on it like everyone else.

So less saying just nuke people and more positive suggestions on what would be a fair value in trade.

Currently onthe list for nuking once a trade is established and approved:
7 people's gm placed walls (3 w/ doors and keys, 4 solid rock)
1 person's gate/lampost graveyard setup
around 9 ATM chests
3 personal teleporters/res ankhs (for islands once boats died)

umm forgeting about the rare clothes and tubs there plox?

Why can't we all just have walls? Put taxes back on the houses, and give us walls back. Ever since I played here I always wanted a wall, but as soon as I got good enough to pvm you guys stopped allowing them.
