well just tame
im starting to have the same problem, but im sure that if you continue
to tame everything you are able to, that gains will soon come out of it
its not like you can tame on one animal to GM, nor to macro on it for a
certain amount of gains....things have changed

well popcorn,
actually it's never been set to you being able to retame the same animal over and over,
there's a glitch that you can retame your previously tamed animals, i found it odd some staff encouraged it. so i'll tell you the trick, seeing staff don't seem to mind,
- tamed animals have a memory of up to 20 animals u previously tamed.
meaning. if there released you can tame 20 then release 20 other animals and the first one will not remember you. thus you can take 21 polar bears and get to w,e the max it is that polar bears can get you to...
it's probably just easier running around training random things now tho.
I was never a tamer, and i heard of this over the forums from people through posts.

well now gains are based off of skill it takes to get the animal SO i guess you should tame only the harder things,,
to bad theres no way to tell which ones are the hardest any more

trial and error.
And this is a little off topic, but what tamable creature has the most hit points? I know grizzlies work in combat because of their hit points and the damage they do, but is there a creature that does very little damage, but as high hit points?

trial and error doesn't work when theres luck involved
you might get 4 gains in the row off a creature at the bottem of ur chart and not get any at the top.
and it'll have you training on a humming bird and wondering while you no longer get gains xD
no i think there HP and damage (on animals not characters) are hand in hand
the higher the HP the higher the damage,,, and thats to the best of my knowledge i might be wrong.
try a hart or brown bear tho..

well until someone can figure out which animals are useful to tame to gain, the
only option is trial and error
either that or you go around taming everything that one sees
and hope to goodness that the next llama or horse you tame gives you a gain lol

I never did like the fact that animals tame way too fast now, before you could get good gains taming the same animal and failing. The way it is now would take years to gm a tamer guarenteed. I am not sure if taming will be included in the crafting patch but if not it needs to be looked at.

considering your chance to "gain" on a fail was around 1/20th your chance to gain on a success, having fails in there to do nothing btu waste time actually slowed your taming gains in t3a. That's why the fastest gm tamers were not the one's taming bears, but running around like mad grabbing every rabbit and snake on the shard.
That beign said, i already adjusted the gain rate for taming when i did the intial transfer to t4a to compensate. So the time to gm is still the same. now it's just not gonna be abunch of peope sitting in buildings taming 20 bears.
For those who are more data oriented, the six tamers that have been training taming in the past month have an average gain rate of 1.7 points per hour of playtime on that character. The three 80%+ skill characters have an average of 0.8 taming points per hour.
Keep in mind this counts all the time those characters are online, the system can't differentiate between people who are rush-taming nonstop and those who tame a bit, go chill at bank, etc.

Ok but now you have to walk around the entire map looking for animals to tame that ads up as well. I honestly didn't think there was anything wrong with taming bears in buildings, it was a hell of a lot better than running all over the place looking for animals. The only real problem with it is that it was easy to afk. Again it is the afkers that should be punished there.
