dedo made a good point.

its not like we all dont help the new players nonstop by taking up for them and giving them tons of stuff.

its things like this that makes our community so tight. people dont forget who helped them and they certainly dont forget who pked/looted them.

besides there is nothing irreplaceable on this shard. when you are new sometimes it seems like you lost so much but soon you realize that the worst thing about being dry looted is having to take the time to go get new stuff on again.

which is why i dont dry loot i dont take runes or very common items to me that is just being a shithead. i still believe players deserve the right to choose to do it though.

the choice you make is what seperates players who have honor with those who are only nice if it benefits themselves. take away the choice to be ruthless and how will we know who is truly ruthless and who has honor?

Every game out there has taken away all the risks of playing it. Obsidian is still true to the roots of UO. The strong prey on the week, this causes the week get strong and take their shit back with interest.

i am one of the noobs on the server and quite frankly what drew me to this server was the pk enviroment. I do not intend to become a pker but you never know :twisted: . The short time i have played here i have found that everyone i have come in contact with cept for a few which i have no problem with have been very helpfull and genorous. I have spent 6yrs on everquest and i find this game much more exiting because of the pk ability. just this noobs 2cps

Definitely leave it as is

One thing to consider:

the original 1 month of poofing --> if it is POSSIBLE you could have characters poofing until they reach 75 or 80 in any skill? Once they stop, it is gone forever (ie - doesn't come back when you have no skills above 75).

Some people can lose that 'newbie' glow in 3 days - for others it takes 3 months.

Basing it on skill gain would be slightly more equitable - and would probably remove some of the crafter killing that goes on!

Thanks for the comments guys, and everyone's saying about what i expected, I just figured broadband would realize it more if he heard it from you guys. Anyway me and broadband will discuss this next time we manage to get together and i'll keep ya posted.

Yeah, leave it as is but change noobie restrictions. If a noob less than a month dies they poof back to Cove. If a noob up to 3 months old dies they die but they cannot be looted. If that character who is between 1 and 3 months has any offensive skill above 80 then they die and can be looted. Of course wrestling shouldn't be considered in this. Just mace, swords, fencing, archery and magery.

now imagine explaining that to a brand new player who just figured out how to open the door and talk to npcs ^^

but i do like the idea would have saved me tons of grief a few years ago!

I can't even believe this is being considered either. When I started here i got raped and left bare assed on a regular basis. It was a risk that made the game even more fun. If you change it to protect new players what you will end up doing is boring them and they will leave.
