Hey everyone.

Due to some confusion and lack of clarity on my part several people had multiple houses decay and lost their belongings.

Because of that we've done a bit of a painful timewarp, however everyone should have their stuff back and even better we tweaked the housing system.

First off....house decay is still in. We did take the opportunity to extend it from 30 to 90 days and all you have to do is access your house sign to refresh. Taxes aren't back quite yet so take advantage of our "stimulus tax break" to save up for that vanquishing sword you always wanted.

More updates coming soon, but I wanted to appraise everyone of the situation.

Thanks!

Hi BB thanks for the update.

2 quick questions on opposite ends of a related spectrum...

1) would it be possible for everyone to see the state of decay of a house? (both for warning the person who might own the house that it needs to be refreshed, and to camp the IDOC)

or

2)Could we go back to the way it was. So the house sign is removed but the house itself stays standing and all the items remain in tact until a server wide house wipe.

i like both questions

the sign dont show how much time u have until u house decay and in the old system once ur house decay at least u have some time to get another house and move ur stuff or simple move ur stuff to another location.

so in this new system i just need to doble click the sign and thats it?
cus dont even show a Refresh option

I noticed the addition of a couple new house types...I know...I was away for a while, sue me. But anyways, can we expect to see more new things like this? And, when are vendors going to start selling items such as forges, anvils, and chests again?

I lost all but one piece of a rose set during the last rollback :( Yet, I persevere cause it's fun :D

You can see how many days you have left on the second page.

And yes, double clicking the sign should be all you ahve to do for now, until taxes are re-enabled.

I think broadband wants to keep the new auto-decay system(from when i last talked to him) however that is why we upgraded it to 90 days.

If you pretend that it's still 60, you have a 30 day leeway you can "forget" and still be able to save your house at the end. I know this won't prevent people from playing it unsafe and trying to refresh every 3 months, but that's not really our fault.

I'd also like to point out:

We had to do a pretty big rollback.
We could have done a smaller rollback(5 days shorter) if people didn't act like morons.

Next time you see osmething like this, don't just loot someone's house dry and be a selfish goon, report it so staff can fix it and save everyone some time.

The fact that it wasnt' even reported till 3-4 days after the first batch of hosues were looted annoys me a ton. Also those players who did it got strikes on their accounts, so don't be surprised if you get jailed for a long time next time you're in trouble, because strikes add up.

I think the main point of my post was misinterpreted, so I 'll try and ask the same question another way.

Lets (hypothetically) say that I have neighbor "A" and neighbor "B". I have not seen either of my neighbors for a few months. I would like to look and see when they last refreshed their house, but I can't, because I'm not a owner, co-owner or friend.

Why would seeing my neighbors house stats be important?

well...Lets say I liked neighbor "A". If I see his house is about to decay I can let him know to refresh it.

Now lets say i didn't like neighbor "B". I can call all my buddies and we can have a camp at his house while we wait for it to fall down and happily loot his stuff.

This is why I would like to see the house state of my neighbors.

Both good points Azi, but I'll just add that you cant even see who owns houses anymore.

Sorry I forgot to post this in the original post azimuth.

When a house decays, it now takes all the items inside with it, instead of leaving them for vultures.

That being said, the "ensure your house is placed properly" stuff should be gone now too, as it was causing some trouble on bigger houses.

As for the information to people who don't own the house... We'll see what broadband wants. I liked the old system, but i can also see the logic in that most people wouldn't want thier house locations known.
Maybe we could do a voluntary system where people could set whether that information was public or not.

So ...let me get this straight. Someone is walking around the wilderness, and comes upon a old house site that still has chests on the ground. That person should leave a ton of valuable items alone, and what ...sit there till there page is answered? While this small fortune of items is at risk of others and that person is at risk of other pkers? They should leave those items? I did page, but it was because i was trying to get some chests that were second lvl, and i couldnt reach them!!! And now AFTER Broadband just got done saying that "due to a lack of clarity on my part" your going to put STRIKES on my account....WTF? Like darr was saying recently, we have benn putting up with alot of crap from this beta "month". But we love playing so we push through. I was all for the rollback once i found out the reasons why the houses were decaying. But dont penalize the people that ARE playing, for THINKING they got lucky and found some free loot from some houses that seemed abandoned!

I penaliz the people who should know better.

There's a difference between thinking you're lucky, and taking advantage of a system that isn't working right. Houses that decay never left their stuff open for others to steal in the past. At the very least page, walk away, and if staff come back and say sure, steal it, then go ahead.

Yeah it's inconvenient for you, but it's exactly what you're supposed to do if you think something MIGHT be a bug. Don't take advantage of it till staff gives you the OK that it's supposed to be that way.

Let me stress this once more, because i say it to every player who is caught abusing a bug for any reason:

"Whenever something looks too good to be true or too easy or too lucky, it probably is a bug." Always remember to ask yourself that. Worst case scenario, you page/post staff about it, they say it's ok, and you get to do it anyway! But if you don't and do it anyway and it turns out to be a bug, it looks bad for you.

That being said, i only put strikes on the 4 people who went out of their way to loot every house they could, not page about it, and definitly knew better.

Falin, we're still in BETA. If you notice chests and chairs and all that crap just floating above the ground in the middle of nowhere don't you think it would be a good idea to page?

On the strike note - 9/10 times if a staff member has put a strike against someone's name, they would have made the player aware of it.

These are trying times for everyone - both players and staff. Just please follow bob's rule of thumb:

"Whenever something looks too good to be true or too easy or too lucky, it probably is a bug." Always remember to ask yourself that. Worst case scenario, you page/post staff about it, they say it's ok, and you get to do it anyway! But if you don't and do it anyway and it turns out to be a bug, it looks bad for you. "

Following that rule will save alot of time and frustration for everyone involved.

If I came across a but load of crap on the ground and I knew that a house was there a day ago...well...a bug would be the furthest thing from my mind. On almost all other shards house signs show the state of decay. "New", "Fairly worn", "In a state of disrepair", and "In danger of collapsing". Those might not be the exact terms used, but you get the point. The "In Danger of Collapsing" (IDOC) houses always drew a croud because on all other shards their contents are spilled to the ground when they vanish. Do a search on you tube for IDOC...it's not uncommon, and no way I would have thought of it as a bug.

Ya if i was walking and i saw a bunch of stuff on the ground the first thing i would be doing is tring to remember how to get back and get the rest. But i would not think it was a bug.

u have been playing here for a while to know very well when u just found a bug or when u r exploiting one.

that what i did as soon as i saw that my house was gonna and saw my stuffs in the ground that were suppost to be inside the house, but that was because was MY HOUSE, same if u r walking and found stuff in the ground u should notice that there was a house there cus items r gonna be in a specific order at least u have to do it for the good of this shard
