I'm coming into this a little late, but hopefully the case is not closed yet.
I might be missing something here, but as a warrior with fencing I had no choice but to take up archery. It's the only way that I can get though a mages RA. A lot has changed, and that might be one of the things, but as I remember, there's no way a warrior with fencing and without archery can win a fight vrs a decent mage.
Not letting races use archery is too harsh. Aside from the fact that it just made me loose a few years of character building, it severely limits a warrior build type and removes fencing as a viable skill option.

just a reminder.
Any solution you all want to propose needs to have enouhg reason to NOT go race that we'll end up with a decent split between humans and race characters, with humans having the majority if it's not an even 50/50 split.
I've liked the discussions, and i've been trying to find alternatives based on what i've heard so far, but as of yet i've not found something that doesn't throw the balance way one way or another, but keep it up.
Also i'm pretty sure everyone understands why wrestling being set to 0 is just silly and is not a downside at all.

Perhaps if you buffed humans slightly you could remove some of the restraints on races.
Ex.. +10 extra stat points for humans
And i know you dont want humans to have powers but maybe a power for like +10% all skills for a short time?
