I only go to ferret forums and after posting there asking for advice and not getting any from the 60 year olds. I thought I'd post here and ask!

Anyways, so when my bf and I play Call of Duty together on PC (on the same router) it disconnects both of us after a game or two. It never did this when we played World of warcraft together, or even Daoc (ugh).

We have roadrunner (isp), could it be possible it is troddlingS(sp) our connection up and down based on the traffic? Because COD might be more packet intensive? What could be the reason? And how can I fix it? Thanks :)

If this is RR residential service, you are flooding out your connection. Best to stick to LAN games for FPS... MMORPGs are generally fine over the Internet though.

My ex-ex router couldnt handle too much traffic at once if there was several computers using "internet bandwidth"... maybe its something like that? I solved it with buying a new router. You could try this before you spend any money on something with borrowing a router from a friend and try how the game works with that one?

ps. shame on you playing wow and even worse daoc  only more worse mmorpg is the everquest games. urk

if any mmo (other than obsi thats the best! ;)) then try eve online, req a phat computer tho if you wanna play the game fully with no lower fps in popular zones cos theres 30k+ player on same servers (only 2 or 3 servers in the world, EU, US and Asian server i think), can be crowded :S. it kept me active for almost 8 month. WoW got me bored in 2 hours, everquest 30 minutes... or if you dont mind poor graphic go Neocron. Was my first mmorpg. futuristic first person sci-fi/cyberpunk game. pretty neat but only lasted 4-5 month for me. guess they got a pretty low playerbase now tho. :(

ok, now you know alot more not that usefull information :p

oh oh on the router topic! im so happy co im getting a new wireless router for free thanks to ordering a new isp conenction, and free internet for 3 month! great deal! then its i think abou 30 dollar a month for "duplex mode"? 2mbits connection.

anyway, hope this router business works out for you!
