Hey guys, I use to play on Obs a few years back and want to start up again.
I've downloaded the installer from the website getting started place.
It installed fine and ran there first time fine and patched I think.
Then when I went to run obs shard, I first got a error saying that the char.tar (It think) Couldn't be opened.
And now when I try open the icon on my desktop I get this error.
"Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process id=0bx7c (2940), Thread id=0xb80 (2944).
Help please?

Did you apply for a new account? Your previous account from a few years back has been deleted because it was inactive. Also, you may want to try reinstalling Obsidian, as that usually fixes a lot of problems.

yeah - try uninstalling and reinstalling - that happened to me once and a simple reinstallation fixed it good!

Try uninstalling/reinstalling the standalone client, and ensure that you have downloaded the microsoft .net framework redistributable package (1.1 or higher) from the microsoft website. It should now be included in the Obs install package, but it is worth reinstalling separately just in case.
This is required for the Obsidian patcher to run, and without it you will crash with a similar error.
