my problem is the fact that after i install obsidian(on C drive) i try and load it up and it says "error finding obsdian registry files, please reinstall obsidian". and i have about 5 times and ive even tried installing the new patch, and different directorys.
this computer isnt acually mine, its my girl friends and im trying to get the game running for her lil sister. i got it to work once, but my g/f deleted the game completly due to lack of disk space on D drive and i dont think she used the uninstall program. so i think maybe the registry is reading were it was last installed and the files arent there.
if this is the problem, help me fix the registry if i can.

Click Start > Run > 'regedit'
Click Edit > Find and search for 'Obsidian'
It should come up with a load of registry entries for Obsidian, with the paths to the game files.
Ensure that you are installing the client into this directory, and it should work.
You may need to hit F3 (find next) to find different registry entries, to make sure you find the correct path to install to.

You could format the entire harddisk, reinstall windows and then obsidian
Naw - try and download a program for cleaning the registry. You should then get rid of all useless registry entries, including old obsidian entries. Good luck

Try checking:
KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> DX Gaming Network -> Obsidian Shard -> 3.0.0

Hello,
I am trying to run this game in a computer lab that i know will wipe the drive after i log off.
I downloaded and installed everything fine but the program cant find the Obsidian Registry entries, is it possible to just download these registry entries and stick em in there?
ive uninstalled and reinstalled many times and still the same thing, i also ran the regedit thing and it didnt really come up with anything. its likely something to do with me being in the lab but I dont seem to have any restrictions on this machine..
its no big deal but this would certainly give me a reason to hang out in the lab all day! thanks.

Don't think entering it into registry will work, but you could try.
Create obsi.reg file containing the following:
Code: Select all Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DX Gaming Network\Obsidian Shard\3.0.0]
"ExePath"="C:\\Obsidian\\obsidian.exe"
"PatchExePath"="C:\\Obsidian\\obsidian.exe"
"StartExePath"="C:\\Obsidian\\obsidian.exe"
"InstCDPath"="C:\\Obsidian"
"Upgraded"="Yes"
Edit the path to where you installed Obsidian and execute obsi.reg.
Also, bear in mind that Obsidian patcher (and installation) needs access to
your system folders. And it being computer lab, doubt you have write
access to it.

"Error locating Obsidian Registry entries. Please reinstall Obsidian."
If you get this error it is because the pre-patcher could not identify that Obsidian is installed. If you get this error uninstall and completely reinstall Obsidian.
I looked in my C:\\Obsidian directory after installation and there were no *.reg files. Am I correct in assuming the installation should have created an obsi.reg file here? (This could be due to some limit on my machine in the computer lab, but if i can successfully install the program and execute my own obsi.reg file shouldnt it work?)
So i ran the Windows Registry Editor and created a multi-string reg file and put in the text:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DX Gaming Network\Obsidian Shard\3.0.0]
"ExePath"="C:\\Obsidian\\obsidian.exe"
"PatchExePath"="C:\\Obsidian\\obsidian.exe"
"StartExePath"="C:\\Obsidian\\obsidian.exe"
"InstCDPath"="C:\\Obsidian"
"Upgraded"="Yes"
I exported the reg file to my C:\Obsidian folder, opened My Computer and exectued the file. I got a message that says it was successfully enetered to the registry, but i still got the error message when i ran Obsidian.
dunno what to do after uninstalling and reinstalling over and over and editing the reg file, sticking it in there and just hoping it works.
any more help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
