PDXLAN wrote: is the West Coast Mecca of LAN parties, parties with over 500 computer gamers that come from all over the United States, and Canada, to game for four days straight. Tournaments such as "Unreal Tournament 2004", "Battlefield 2", CounterStrike:Source, and "Warcraft III" intrigue gamers to come compete, and win prizes from sponsors such as INTEL, BFG, and NVIDIA. What distinguishes PDXLAN from professional tournaments is that PDXLAN believes in giving to the average gamer rather than just the pro gamers. that's why you will see the largest prize chest items go to contests and the general raffle. PDXLAN is about having fun for four days with unlimited soda, loads of contests, meeting friends, and playing the games you love.
PDXLAN now enters the 2005 season after having 4 large scale LAN parties in just one and a half years. The first PDXLAN was in July of 2003, named "PDXLAN:2003" with 500 seats open, 487 of which sold online. The second event "PDXLAN v2.04" held in January of 2004 had a sell out crowd of 500 gamers 44 days before the event even started. "PDXLAN v3.04" in July sold 500 tickets over 3 months before the event even started, and another 107 tickets in an "extended" room for a total of 607 gamers, a West Coast record. "PDXLAN 4.05" was held in March 2005 with 500 seats, and sold out over 2 months in advance.
PDXLAN is now gearing up for "PDXLAN v5.05" with 1,000 seats, to be held August 11-14 2005
