I decided since i needed to brush up on my PHP skills I might as well put them to good use for you Obsidianites. If you check the *new* webpage you'll see a top players link. This will take you to a listing of the top 20 characters ingame the current month. It's not a contest, but a cool way to see who the most active people are each month.

Depending on the popularity I may add more stats such as most populated areas, average player age, average kill count, average total skill % and more.

Make sure to comment if you want me to expand this in the future.

It does look cool so far, as any new toy, heheh.

However, maybe staff shouldn't appear on it ((c) Azimuth :p). And average
skills, age, kill counts, karma, fame, stats, etc. would surely be a nice
addition, but possibly only counting from those 20 players listed. As the
strain on server would be too high and results would be most useless if
every char's info was to be taken into consideration. Also there would
be problems with an average kill counts if Restile made it to Top 20 with
his 65k+ counts. lol

See dual purpose :) I actually noticed that when i woke up, but suprisingly 80% of the top 20 people who were still online were at their keyboard amazingly enough.

I'll get that operational again eventually, but it's not the top of my priorities since we're doing good with current hardware and what not. Spread the word as best you can if you want to give back or apply to be a moderator or staff.

Right now the top 20 will take into account all characters currently logged in including staff unless they're invisable. It shouldn't be a bad thing if a Seer or Counselor is online enough to make it to the top 20. Shows how much they care.

Server strain won't be a problem since this code is so optimized but I see where your coming from. As far as taking every player into account....it's kinda necessary if we want realistic averages. The more active characters would have more weight in the overall average, but everyone who played that month would be accounted for.

I wonder, could you put a command in so we could check our online time?
