Post subject:  New to Obsidian.
Hi :D

Well in an effort to rekindle the old flame of passion for UO, I decided to play again :shock: . I used to play on the Catskills and Chesapeake servers back in 98-00. I bet the gameplay has changed quite a bit :o.

I hope to be on often and if anyone has any tips please share :)

a few tips,

you should make a money making character i.e blackmith and miner or cook and fisher or maybe an alchemist dont no much about these tho :( peronally id go with a cook and fisher probarly make more money this way.

then you have to decide on a fighting charcter maybe a mage or warriour or a tank mage its realy up to you.

I dunno if I could withstand the monotony of making stuff over and over :\

yeah its very easy to make a liveing killing monster. You just have to find the best ones.

Welcome to Obsidian. Hope you enjoy it.

I'd say that starting with a warrior would be the best if you want to earn money off monsters. That or make a necromancer. Mages will take quite a while till they're at a decent money making level.

anyway with a crafter u'll get to know the game and the ppl who are in it, b4 u go out traying to slay those pesky players or taking on shit thats just too darned hard.

Don't Craft. Its boring and there is another way to make money. Step one: Create a Vampire warrior. Step Two: Train his healing, whatever melee skill you choose, anatomy, tactics, and parrying. Once you have a GM fighting skill, about 30-40 healing, GM antomy then go hunting. Hunting is fun and you can rake in the cash if you do it enough. It will also help you raise skills. And then once your done making money you will have something you can use it towards.

2 months ago I started on Obsidian with a warrior; A Vamp swordsman. I got him up to about 60 swords and quickly realized that I needed more strength if I'm going to be able to kill anything worth while. I could work skills for str, but I had no way to get rid of the skills once I was finished training without buying Forgetful fish from fishermen...Those things can be dam expensive, and you can't earn much money with only 60 swords and 65 str. I also needed a way to get above 100 str because training skills will only get you up to about 100. I found that it is easy to hit a brick wall with a fighter unless you have some kind of trade skill character to back him up. I went with a fisherman, but a blacksmith will work as well.....I would NOT recommend an alchemist because you need a character that can kill daemons (for the daemon bone reg) to make the pots that bring in the money.

On obsidian, it's almost necessary to have some kind of trade skill to start out with, or it's going to be dam near impossible to get to a high level.

I never had a single craftman and my warrior is pretty decent. You don't NEED a craftsman. All you need is some friends that will give you some decent stuff. To train, find another noob and just do that for awhile. You can raise your str to a decent level before you need fish. As for the friends thing, that's part of the game :D So i suggest doing that, since you said you're the adventurous type. Making a craftsman can take awhile as can a warrior (depending on how much you get on).

I agree with Bobo totally I dont have any tradesman and yet I am doing fine getting like 50k in like 2 days aint bad for a warrior this doesnt include magical weaps etc....and yeah if I need somethin I just ask my friends for it or I buy it its simple...and why u all cranky about fff? just buy like 3 to 4 at a time...thats wat I do and I got rid of like 80 percent of the skills that I dont need or use...I vampire warrior is a good choice to start..I had a friend who started with a blacksmith and ended up quitting cause he was tired of mining and training all the time...
