Ancient books, hidden tablets, strange rumors, and forgotten tales have started appearing around the world. The recent prevalence of vampires, it turns out, is not a new affair, and they were once both populace, and thought dead. That lore is now being remembered, as the vampires recruit once again.
Each bloodline has revealed its leader and given a call for others to join.
Each vampire that joins a bloodline empowers their sire whether it is a leader or another of the bloodline, too many, and those at the top may become too strong, capable of feats no other mortal can achieve.
However, humans once hunted the vampires to near extinction through ancient methods, and as those are uncovered, the way to kill the vampires, permanently, will revive.
Mechanics:
- A lot of this has been knowledge to the vampire leaders for many years, as they agreed to it when they took the titles. Two players even completed the quests first, and turned it down for that reason. So none of this is by surprise.
- Vampires gain power when they have vampires sired under them, pyramid scheme style. So the master vamp who sires directly gains the most power, but if he sires those, who sires others, the master still gains, and the person under them gains, adding more total power to the bloodlines.
- Vampire power affects their abilites, damage dealt and taken, and their vulnerability to sunlight. Master vampires do not have the daylight weakness the others do.
- Vampire leaders can suffer permanent death. However, it is an ordeal to perform, requiring multiple players and length time, so it will never happen by accident or bad luck, and can be defended against or stopped.
- When that permanent death occurs, each master will have a choice. Immortalize themselves in stone, and take their bloodline with them, eradicating it, but saving the rest of their bloodline from the same fate, or turn to dust and pass on the title of master to the next in line, granting them the same benefits and risks of permanent death(can be refused, but refusal abandons your bloodline). If a master abandons their bloodline, the characters must find a new sire, or they will slowly revert to their race prior to being turned or human if they were "always" one.
If no vampire in the bloodline takes up the mantle of master, the bloodline is eradicated.
- If all bloodlines are eradicated, vampires as a race, will cease to exist.
- At the point only one bloodline remains, all new vampires will automatically join that bloodline, empowering their leader.
- The secrets of how to permanently kill a vampire will be spread out over quests, items, npc conversations, and the lore will be added slowly and at random over the next few months, so it is not that easy to spot.
- The vampire masters each will have slowly learn that they have tasks they must complete, which forces them into the daylight and outside the safety of their coffins regularly, giving the other races a "fair" chance, although many will attempt to complete their tasks in secret.
