well, in this stage of development, I think it would be nice to have more players...

introducing new players now would

1) spark/ maintain interest of older players.
2) spark interest in economy and attaining things again, reflected in more data for staff
3) make things fun for the testers / players now which would also result in more data for staff
4) more data = faster everything = more ideas spread faster development

I think obsidian being stuck in this gear, no one is happy, it is a game, and people would like to enjoy it,
we would like to see it grow and get better, but it is happening to slow atm.. for the amount of players...

a player earned is never a player lost, because that same player would have never stumbled on obsi if it sits like it's currently sitting... now if we advertise later... well that same potential player is no longer a potential player.... so why not get some now? and it can't lead to a lower number later lol.... so whats there to lose?

thats just how I feel, and everyone else on the shard..

putting us on the polls for voting or whatever sounds fine but i DO NOT suggest emailing all the older players with their info still available or what it might be. pvp needs to be DONE and balanced for those players to stay around...or else we get alot of belgarion's. (I love you dude, no offense, Omerta fo life)

I think getting old dedicated players back would be better then new players who will train a few days and then decide its to hard and quit then we would be in the same fix we are now. Obs has an extremely loyal player base and the game should make those players who have been around since forever happy i'm not saying give them stuff but maybe try to compromise on the big complaints that vets have....

As for old players returning when combat is balanced...gimme a break! In the eyes of the player base combat will never be balanced. Everyone cannot win every fight. Unless that happens, people will bitch and moan hour on end about how it just isn't fair. That will NEVER change. On top of it, older players seem to have an inflated sense of entitlement around here. It is their way or no way...cus they damn well know everything there is to be known. That would be good except everyone disagrees about everything.
Even if combat needs to be balanced/tweaked as it likely does, those players won't log in and try it for a couple weeks...God knows they are probably a bit rusty and could use some time to get back used to playing the game...instead they log in for a half hour and stomp their feet around crying about how it is not the same as it was before and they are soooo upset. Then, instead of trying to adapt to the new system or make quantitative and valuable input derived from honest to goodness testing, they sit at the bank and cry to whoever will listen about how they were fu$%ed over by the changes and how life sucks for them now.
For one, I am kind of sick of it. I can't imagine what a new player will think when they log in and visit the hotspot of Obsi(vesper bank) only to find that people are incessantly complaining about the way things are.
My suggestion to these people is to like it or lump it....or door number three... and don't let it hit your ass on the way out.

lmao @ mark... but true lol

@nightmare-
ya.. I think when the player base rises, older players associate that with coolness.. lol (or back when we had better player base) because more players = more fun... hands down.. theres no arguing with that.

the problem now is... get more players....

+ the vets that stomp there feet and complain on how things change will be able to own all the noobs again like b4 and won't complain :) atm, no ones really a noob.. so everyones meh... nothing new is happening player wise...

@ dedo-

older players came back and did what you said noobies would do... so lol
and also as i stated. a player gained is never a player lost... if they go and quit, it's fine, better then having them never give it a chance.... and if we start later, the players we could have gained, now and throught this period of non-recruiting, we will never see if we recruit later.... the availiable target customer base is always changing..

So i never really got the arguement about newer players leaving... instead we just never recruit them... seems counter productive to me.... it's not like were gonna be putting obsi on wal-mart shelves
