It's called flipping(allowing you to use multiple graphics for the same item for decorational purposes).
Sadly, it's intentional behavior.

There seems to be a graphic glitch where if you drop a bottle of wine or ale on the ground it turns into 2 bottles and if you drop it again it turns into 3 and so on. Just thought I would mention it. |
