| Post subject: | Changes to Casting Spells |
Well now that I started a PvP mage this dilema came into my character training and build up. Since the new system took affect the spells that once used to be able to cast on yourself is not more. I know this was discussed and reasons to the change was given, but can we look at this once more and strive for change. Here is the problem that I see in training healing and resist on a PvP mage in the t4a system. t3a - Back in the old system a pvp mage could be created and trained soley by using spells. To train their stats they simply did blacksmith/mining (which can still be done now) to train str. Eval int or animal lore (which can still be used now) to train int. However, in order to train healing and resist (w/o worrying about hunting with the character), said person casted light spells on them which gained resist and healing at a moderate speed. This allowed the player to only focus on the needed skills and material needed to train the character and not focus on making him/her a pvm and then switching all the stats back to pvp status. t4a - The system now calls for the opposite. No longer can someone train healing or resist in the same manner or oppurtunity that others did in t3a. From what I see the player must go as a PvM and go hunting until healing and resist are GM. However, even that can take a lot of time in both GMing healing and resist. Im sure that a lot of players can agree that no one wants to make a pvm mage and train it just to be able to switch it later to pvp. What I propose is that a vote be taken. You may choose to keep it as it is now, allow ALL spells to be castable on yourself, or choose at least one skill that can be castable on yourself to train both healing and resist up (choosing fireball or another weak spell to train the two skills). Please dont just shoot this down and say that it will never happen. Or dont just come here and say that its fixed for the better. Only reason some people say tht is because they had the oppurtunity to GM it the old way in the old system. Thank you! |

If you have voted please add why you think it should be changed. Pointless if you just vote. Thank you! |

if one offensive spell is castable on yourself, then all should be. Asking for only certain low level spells to be able to damage you is basically telling Bob how you want to macro, which (in case you didn't notice) he is very opposed to. I'd like to see it stay as it is, but thats just my opinion. |

Yes it may occur. I am all for allowing all spells or just some spells. Either way we need a way to train a pvp mage's resist without sacrificing recources to turn him into a pvm and then, after months of training, finally turn him into a pvp. |

so uhh.... go out and kill some elementals in shame using bolts lightning arrows and harm? gains resist, gains gold, gives reags, and raises stats. I fail to see the problem here. |

As you wish. Was just a suggestion that I thought players would want to see changed. If not, then I guess ill work around it. |

sorry, came off more snippy than i meant to be. Its still a shitty life for me, i try not to take the temper out though. My Apologies What i meant was, is there something that doesn't satisfy that i'm missing? Belive it or not i do miss stuff quite a bit, which is why i encourage discussion. It seems to gain resources, as well as give you gold, while still letting you train. The only thing really missing is the sitting in one spot without dying. |

The idea is that one doesnt want to gain unecessary skills. If I did that I may gain wrestling or tactics, which are skills I do not need. Also there is the chance of death and its higher with a pvp with already low resist and nothing to support them. Unless he want to ruin set after set of myth before GMing the skill. I know macroing is frowned upon, but im sure a lot of pvp mages would agree that they would not like to gain unecessary skills. Could we not take a vote whether to bring it back or not? I always liked the idea of having a warrior to train and hunt for regs, making a pvm to train and hunt for large quantities, and then making a pvp mage where one sat back a bit and relaxed. Not necessarily macro, but relax in all the work he/she has done to get to where one is. If you want it to stay the same then all for it. But I really dont see that many ppl making pvp mages now to gains uneeded skills and paying for fff 24/7. WHen other mages had the oppurtunity to train resist and healing peacefully in their homes or at bank. |

BM I was not mentioning training magery. What I said was to be able to caste magery on yourself to train HEALING and RESIST. But Im just gonna figure something out to train resist and healing (this doesnt mean ill bug) lol |
