Ok not trying to make a big deal here. But as of late a certain player in game like to use the n word. Now i know its not a big deal to some but i may self dont like it. And really wouldnt like my kids to see people useing it. I know we all geting to messing around and saying crap. But today was at the bank. And the normal gank fest was going on. And deathwish and judas were chaseing sub around and deathwish says haha judas good old fashioned nagger chase. With staff standing right in the middle i might add. Anyway i think that kinda stuff shouldnt go so please try and not use the n word. Affter all kids do play

the problem is with the players that are using it and the retarded staff (whoever it was) that decided to stand there and not do anything....cuz that shows he/she shouldnt have the position of staff if he/she cannot enforce the rules. and before you (the staff member present there) states that you were AFK or away doing something else while this happened, it only shows that you cannot follow a simply rule that states you cannot be AFK, regardless of what one may have been doing. this just shows which staff members are responsible, and the ones that forgot why they became staff and for what reasons....o well, that sucks to see this happen in-game hope it gets fixed, idk....this just showed how careless some ppl are in this game BTW... I never want to see the term "retarded staff" again. -Kraken

The staff member mentioned is me. First off, I was not AFK. Even though I did not see the sentence Bezerk mentions, perhaps due to the large number of players at the bank at the time or that I was looking at the administrator panel, I did see a player say the N-word and other racial slurs directed towards Chips. When I think back on it now, I was too lenient. At the time, I was debating with myself of what to do. Should I jail him, since he had previously been jailed due to the same offense a couple months ago, or should I warn him since this is the first time that I personally witnessed the offense. I decided to give him a warning as I had given a warning for a player slipping up a couple days earlier with the N-word (I figured it there was a valid case of entrapment); I figured it being fair. In this case specifically, I said, "Ahem," to let him know that I was seeing what he was saying. Despite this, he used racial slurs once or twice more. I decided to take no action and to let him wind down; that next time the punishment for the same offense would be extremely harsh. I also decided that if a complaint was made that I would jail him. No complaint was made at the time, but now one has been made. After considering all this, I look back at this instance with regret and shame as I should have taken action sooner.

The sentence i said?? What did i say? Echo and u have both told me not to say it and ive stopped using it. Either way alot of dif ppl play here and the word is not always used as a racial slur in alot of places although it doesnt make the word a good one its used very frequently and ona normal basis. Half of the shit Cult and Outcastz say to eachother every day are things i would def not want my kids to see over the N word thats thrown around every now and then

um,, what hank said.. and bez. I think he ment hank in the previous post, not you. and it's sad that people use slurs over the internet, because there so tough.. but ya its happened for years, so it doesn't personally bother me, BUT as hank said i wouldn't want my kid or any other kid for that matter to see that and think it's ok. shows a real lack of creativity also, its thrown around like, J00 n00b when WoW first came out.... even though, deathwish was creative in replacing, the I with A and went around saying "sub your a nagger go pick cotton".. sigh deathwish j00 n00b

I understand what you guys are saying but im saying theres a dif when sombody says your a (Racist words are not tolerated here. Consider this a first and final warning). and when sombody says wassup my (Racist words are not tolerated here. Consider this a first and final warning).. Although the word was created to demean black ppl in some places around the world its used frequently in convo especially by black ppl, if you think sombody is using it to be a complete asshole i understand but dont get worked up when sombody uses it in a harmless way. I know i am not a racist and i have alot of black friends in RL and when i say it now they know its slang and that im not making fun of them The intent of use is not up for debate. The words will not be used under any circumstance. -Kraken

slang or not, it shouldn't be used in game at all really. I dont complain in situations like that. but none the less it is against the rules, and as hank you and me said, i wouldn't want my child hearing that, so why would you subject anthers child to that? anyway... I don't throw around racial slangs at the white, spanish, french and brazilian people who use it toward me. I would like the same curtsy (did i spell that right) but w,e

Get Real? I was i know it goes on everday also know there are far worse things a kid can see on the internet. But come on the way it was said was just wrong. And sorry judas but if you had seen something that had offend you or had been done to you say like a bug or something and staff was right there and did nothing you would have been the one bitching the loudest. And no wasnt many around at the time. And my post wanst about staff doing their job. It was about what we say at times. Trust me if any of you guys had kids. You would not want theam reading that and say what was said.

not to attack you personally Koldoon, i was just angry at the fact that a staff was mentioned not taking any action.....but I guess you did take some action on this situation (even if it wasnt correct at the moment). if you look at the major rules that BB and CV placed for Obsidian, racism is one of the biggest issues he addressed, and for that, it should be dealt with with a punishment, not a warning in my opinion. especially since Deathwish doesnt seem to understand the rules of Obsidian....and repeatedly saids the N word. furthermore, if he has been jailed more than once for this.....ban him longer or simply tell him if he continues with his behavior that he might as well say good-bye to his account and ban him indefinitely. im sick and tired of tough little boys thinking they are hard core because they can cuss or use racial terms on the internet because, of course, the other person cannot do anything in real life.... o well, just shows how much ppl really respect the shard at this moment...even tho Deathwish is the biggest complainer of them all, and all he does is disrespect the shard rules and staff...

Racism will not be tolerated in any way, in any variation. "It was a joke" will not be a suitable excuse, as the admins do not find it funny. The issue has been raised, the staff member has apologized and has stated he will use better judgment in the future. I believe this thread has run its course. * Locked *
