I think they made it more random and i also think that taming animals no longer releases them, i think you have to kill them. Don't quote me on that tho.

nothing's changed except that t4a has a better Random number generator than t3a.
that being said wilderness spawns are going to get overhauled at a later point, with some new fun tricks, such as uninterruptable spawns, meaning it'll kill something to make room for a new spawn automatically.
but again, at a later patch.

I think some things have changed, like areas that used to spawn heavily that barely spawn now, such as outside of Cove. And, I can think of a couple of areas that appear to spawn inside of static buildings...
And yes, it does seem that stangs are spawning much less frequently.

Yea it has pretty much gone from one extreme to the next, it used to be that you could walk around and there was rides everywhere, too many, and nowafter cleaning spawens 2 and 3 times you are lucky to get a llama. I think we could find a happy medium now?

spawns are the same. Literally. Haven't touched em.
Same maximums, same spawns rate, etc.
Only difference is now it randomizes better.
so no more 5 mustans on one spawn (it's happened before).
However, that being said: Wander works better for animal AI, meaning they'll go farther away from their points. No more clumping.

This causes animals to get stuck into towns and into buildings for egs like Trinsic which is full of animals in buildings and many other places..
