Hunting in destard use to give me lots of money, now its lame, getting 300-500 gp on a drake isn't a very good prize for slaying a dragon, and with the jewels, you can't even sell those for decent money anymore.

IMO there's no way to make good money anymore, unless you spend 10 hours in destard to make 100k. Hunting zorlons use to bring in alot of money aswell, selling there armor, walking away with a sack full of cash. Not anymore =(

If someone can show me other ways to make some good money, please do, I am running low on money and I don't have the time to spend 3-10 hours in destard.

There was a gold wipe.

Monsters drop less gold now.

Therefore there is less gold in the obsi economy AND gold is harder to come by.

Thus prices between players should drop since gold is more precious than it was before.

If there hadn't been a gold wipe then sure you would have had reason to complain but as things are now I honestly don't see any reason to complain.

Post subject:  Re: Money

problem is that ppl have giant hordes of stuff like they did before...and most dont need much except for gold.
there are a few ppl still training hard and need stuff, but there getting screwed because the ppl that have it are not selling for less because .....they have EVERYYHING!!!!!

hence...its the players that will not drop prices...and untill more ppl show up and start using some of the supplies that are out there...not much change in sight as far as i see it.

If prices haven't dropped then just refuse to buy from the person selling at a crazy price - that's a given.

And true falin there are large stockpiles of items held by some players but even those players need gold.

We need to get house vendors working again that will not only get prices set to where they should be, but make it easier for players to gain more gold and easier for people to get what they are looking for. It is hard to find a competitive price when no one feels like logging on to sell it for less.

Once we get new players, those players will sell things at a reasonable rate that follows the rules of supply and demand. As Echo said, even people who have everything need money...if the old folks want to compete in the new economy, the're going to have to lower prices to keep up with the newbies.

o so very true Azimuth. prices are a little crazy now, but sooner or later they will
return to what they once were, if not better =]

err mammoth there at the same prices as before, and thats the problem heheeheheh
I actually think its better like this tho,
hunting > boring
crafting = boring
saying they deserve the same amount of gold/work ratio is stupid to me,
just because you can't horde gold like before and get 100k in a hour or 2 like you could have previously doesn't mean anything is wrong

Post subject:  Re: Money

ya but sooner or later it will become more and more difficult to acquire this money
when we reach a higher player base. more players=less money being distributed
amongst the economy. before i remember 5 ppl doing into shame, wrong, deciet
and coming out with at least 20k each in either gold or items...if the gold stays this
low then it will become a lot more difficult for money to be distributed nicely with
hunting, regardless of how many come.

Post subject:  Re: Money

then prices will drop.

The price of anything in the world depends solely on what people are willing to pay for it (there are some monopolizing exceptions, but that doesn't apply to Obsidian). If there is less gold, then items will cost less, and the value of gold will actually go UP, which is the ultimate goal for a strong economy. In the old days gold was not worth shit. Everyone had more of it then they could spend, which is why i was offering 30+K for 1K of nightshade. Those days are over, thank God.

Post subject:  Re: Money

well what i would like to change was the price of selling items to vendors. its not
a large problem because i still made 40+k with Orange tailoring, but i want the price
of items to change as they were in T3A (i realize its changed because of a gold wipe).
still i would like to sell tailored clothing to vendors not based on all being the same
price, but one being more expensive due to a higher crafting of the material. would be
nice to see that change come back =]

Post subject:  Re: Money

and nightshades demand was ultra high also and the supply was low for its purpose (training poison)
so naturally it would have been really high, following the simple supply/demand scale

and mammoth ur wrong, i don't see where you get your logic from?
the noobs really fuel the economy for vets.
when it comes to armor, fish, pots, there in need of them the most, because ther building there characters up,
economy will be dead when theres only vets around, trying to balance economy now will only f*** it up when the noobs come lol

You also can't compare the old system to the new system. The value of things is a bit wackey right now because people are trying to use the old system as a base for the new, and we can't do that. The gold we can buy and sell things for is worth more now then it was under the old system.....

To make it simple, whatever you would ask for something under the old system, it's my opinion that it would be worth about 2/3rds of that now. Same with gold from monsters...what you could get then, you should expect about 2/3rds of that now.

thats just my opinion, and there's a good chance that it will change, but that what it seams like to me.

Post subject:  Re: Money

well until the price of higher priced items as guild stones and houses drop to reflect this i doubt it will happen,
instead of dropping a bit they have raised a bit which doesnt make much sense if thats what they wanted....
