Another month or so has gone by in obsidian. The number of players are lower, the workload to fix bugs has increased, the communication by admins, devs and GMs has decreased, and the overall hole of limbo that obsidian has fallen into has gotten deeper. The future looks rather shitty if Obsidian stays on the current path.

Maybe it's a time for new path? Or at the VERY least some kind of interest by the powers-that-be to make the current path work... personally, I would support an entirely new path.....maybe a pre-UOR clone or a ObsT3A clone. T4A is not working out so well....

tc3 was the shit it was almost perfect. I didint think there was a reason to chage it at all. It might have gotten rid of a few big bugs. But im sure there was other ways of fixing them...

But then again maybe i dont see the big picure. But as i have seen players saying over and over again. If staff doesnt do something then obsi will be dead.

Hey azimuth.

What's your point?

Because i don't see it. Or at least i hope i don't.

The point i see right now is ,"Oh shits, we're at the same point we've been every 1 1/2 year or so, right before a big revival. but it's not going fast enough for me"

Well chill it.
Shit happens.

Not my fault i've been required to be out of town for 80% of any given week consistently or that i've spent the past week helping a friend cope with the death of a very very important family member. Not broadband's fault that he has to keep his job w/ a boss that isn't too happy and so was forcibly detained from the last scheduled work-weekend.

You've been here long enough to know better than to post shit like this.
Especially when obsidian has been in a LOT worse times, and bounced back before. We're in a better position than we've been the last 2 times things went to crap. So again, sorry it's not going fast enough for you, but if it really bugs you that much, do something about it. There's multiple posts around the forums about how you can help out if you're inclined, as well as bug information.

I don't mind bitching about the situation not beig the best, but you better be trying to fix it while you're doing it, and not just going "Wow this sucks". And a "new path" is pretty infesible. I mean hell, look how bitchy people were when they learned their horses might not make it through. They'd absolutely hate a completely new system and having to start over. It was considered, because doing so would have saved us 2 months+ of work. But in the end people wanted to just have an in-place upgrade, so we went with it hte best we could.

To be truthful here, Obsidian hasn't had a revival in atleast 2 years. We have seen the odd new people come and go but mostly it was the same players adapting to unfixed bugs, low-high in game staff action and bug abuse that destroyed pvp and other things. But after these latest changes we don't even have that anymore, we have people that log on once in a while to see what has been happening but not actually playing the game. I think this post definately sums up the way players that have stayed loyal to Obs all this time feel and you can either take heed or just try to dumb it down with excuses but i guarantee you how you handle this will have a huge impact on the future of the shard.

happened a few times since i been around, major changes that make your chars "suck", pple cry, adapt, shard goes on etc..

personally i like what bob has been moving towards, and dont mind waiting. overall its been a very fun shard over the years. i cant speak for others, but from what i know of bob, he is not one to leave things unfinished, and i think we all know what bb is capable of.

if you think this is buggy just think back to official uo when it first released. and they were getting paid lol.

i would expect a free shard beta period to last longer since we have very few staff who only work in their spare time for nothing other than the satisfaction they get from helping others.

in fact i would bet that all the negativity in the forums has, if anything, slowed progress.

not trying to start problems with my fellow players because i know you guys are just frustrated and cant wait to play, all i can offer is a little positive thinking and hopefully we can enjoy each others company along the way.

keep in mind its not like we had a choice on the client upgrade, so this beta thing was really the only way to keep obsidian alive. the problems that came with it are well worth it if it saves the shard and we have a lot of cool new stuff to look forward to as well.

Hmm...to be honest, I hadn't logged in forever and since recently spending some ingame time crafting and hunting, I find things to be better. It isn't buggy hunting except for the rare uber-monster. Crafting has changed a bit but overall it is not bad. From what Bob is saying, I would assume that some new items etc will be implemented down the road to make crafting more interesting. I know he has many things ready to be added, he just needs to be available when BB is to add them. It will happen.

What I am saying is that things seem to be working well enough to play without concern for any major rollbacks...so get ingame and play.

I have read many posts and spoke with enough people to know that the general sentiment about UO and Obsi in particular is that the people drive the shard...not the game dynamics so much. It might be a good idea for as many people to log in and perform the same activities as before..make guilds and pvp...craft and train...and most important of all, build resources such as gold, regs, fish and armour for when the registration is open again.
There are some really dedicated people online everyday and can be found at many different times too. Day...night...whatever. These are the people who will rule Obsidian when the time comes to re-open this sight that has been up longer than just about any other on the net. These people will be able to help new people and grow player-base, while those that sit and complain will only make things harder.

So get ingame and do your thing...things might be better than you thought(except placing houses cus that sucks large...but yeh..) Do what you always did and see what happens, report what is not good and what you enjoy. (don't wnat that stuff removed or 'fixed' if you actually like it)

It goes something like this:
Bug report:
Etching tool doesn't work even on regular bags
Portals in wrong don't work...reds get stuck there
Gate weps don't work in anti-magic areas
Succubus are insane
Houses don't place easily....very hard to do.
Need magic weps and I dunno if Chaos/Order shields drop
Drakes/Dragons appear as shadows upon death...but remain dead instead of shadowing(sometimes)
Reapers have bones on them when the corpse is cut instead of deadwood

Likes:Potions are easier...keep that
Hunting is alot easier now than early BETA
New golems in Destard are cool and monsters drop an array of items
New party system is cool
New housing is good(needs more storage space though)
More vendors in shops
Faster respawn of vendor stock
New ores are cool..could use another unique to Obs(like Obsidian ore :P)
Tactis means something...moving while fighting helps...hits from behind etc add damage from what I see.

SO...Let's all give it a try for two weeks starting tommorrow. Let's all get ingame and pool our talents and wisdom and come back on December 4th with our input all at once. Feel free to PM me with it and I will compile it into one report. This way things will be said once, all neat and in order. The best thing right now is saying what we want and showing support to staff by logging in and having fun...just like the old days.
Seeya ingame!

its easy to whinne about the situation, i just hope that when the "BETA" end... only keep the good changes and updates that they did.

Remember sometimes players r right , sometimes changes dont work

k how about this....

New healing sucks bigtime, not only do you have a longer wait to heal but you fail just as often if not more than you did before.

Not being able to cast on your self blows goats, not only will there not ever be any more mages cuz noone will even take the time to train them now, but not being able to cast clumbsy has taken dex on a pvm build down by atleast 40 points basically making an awesome build for pvm about half of what it used to be. You use twice as many regs for healing now that you ever did before, and with loot tables all screwed up it is not like you can just go and hunt more.

There are some changes that are good but in my opinion so far the bad far outweigh the good.

I agree with you on the not being able to cast on yourself issue. It is both good for hunting and good for training purposes. It is a very simple fix to make it possible if Bob/BB wish to make it so. I'm sure about 99% of players would welcome the change back.

So far healing seems fine to me though, even on a mage. I almost never fail.
I will test on my warrior more tonight or tommorrow.
