| Post subject: | Manual Patching |
Ok....I downloaded the Obsidian Intaller, installed it, went to go play it, and I got the same damn error that is in all the posts. I have spent 5 hours reading all of the posts, trying the little troubleshooting tips that everyone has put out there, and even downloaded a fixed patch updater. Yet I am still sitting here posting on a support forum for the same issue that I had before I sat down for an excruciating dinner filled with shakes and seizuristic jolts. I've come to the conclusion that downloading the patches and manually installing them myself is the best route to take. Ahhhh, but here we go, there is no downloads section to this website. Fancy that ":)! If anyone can REALLY help, let me know. Thanks! I'm going to rest my eyes. *peace* |

MANUAL PATCHES There're a bunch of links to them in posts, I don't see how you could've missed it if you read all of them.. And what is that "same damn error that is in all the posts" exactly, might I inquire? If it ain't a big secret of course. |

I am referring to the error "updater has encountered a problem and needs to shut down." Secondly, I said that I have tried all of the little troubleshooting tips that have been thrown out there. This includes the links. Thanks! |

See which one is giving you problems in patcher, extract it to obsi dir, run it (won't give you any messages, so don't freak out), start patcher again to see if there's another one causing trouble. |

The only time I had to do this method, I just opened each patch in the folder and success! |

Have you tried to open all the manual patches (there should be 12 of them) ? Be sur to uncompress in the Obsidian folder, for example "C:\Games\Obsidian" and not a sub-folder (C:Games\Obsidian\patch) Or you can try uninstalling and installing UO again. There should be a trick because the manual patching worked for me. btw, what OS are you using ? Vista or XP ? |

Vista looks good but does not work well with Obs. I would say it's a failed platform like Windows ME but nothing could be that bad. |

Sounds like just corrupt install, it does that sometimes. Re-install. .NET FW is fine as you were getting Patch 303 error. |
