Post subject:  Getting more players into the game
Suggestions, please. Nothing about ingame mechanics - this is all about things that we as players and staff can do on a general level.

- How can we attract more new players?

- How can we keep them?

- How can we encourage our existing playerbase to play more?

- How can we entice old players back?

Any suggestions of this nature, or anything else relevant you can think of, will be fantastic.

Easiest to thing to get at least the old players back is that everyone just talks to the ones they can contact and cinvince them. I probably have at least 20 people on my msn who are old uo and obsidian players. Ive already tried a few but sadly with not much of succes, apart from Blackwood made a new account last week but im not sure that he´s been playing anything.

Events? Quest? advertise the shard at UO sites,Get BB back active,when BB is active we always get a raise on numbers.

hah its easy, just do the same things like 2-3 years ago, obsi had 100+players online(most 127 if i remember good) so the thing is all problems that we encounter shouldnt be deleted(necros, races etc.) just fixed, i dont want to flame or something. just my 2 cents

reduce lag... it lags when over 30 players online... (at least for me and the ppl i talk to)...

fix bugs... especially the critical ones that ruin pvp

Yea lag is an issue aswell, for me as for vlad the server lags ALOT when there´s 20+ players ingame, and i got 100 mbit line. If we had 20-30 more players on the server it would be unplayable for me and maybe for more then just me. But thats an issue to deal with when we get there.

the biggest problem I have when trying to get new people to play is the time it takes to make a decent crafter. My best friend to this day refusus to play because he got bored one day and watced me mine for an hour :( . People are now used to WoW were it takes 3 days to Gm a crafting skill. I am NOT saying that we reduce the difficulty I like the Challenge but thats one of the things turning people away.

Honestly I wouldn't mind more PK free areas, yeah I know PK is part of the game but seriously guys how much of a challenge is killing a noob? I guess I'm just getting tired of going crap here comes someone else do i trust them? I remember as a noob....er when my char were younger I would try to talk to everyone, died alot :( .

Yeah and Races everyone loves races. :P

I'm not sure how many people advertising on UO sites brings in. I think we'd have more luck with bringing in our friends and family.

Keep regular events and quests going - which I'll admit, you guys have been doing pretty good.

Fix the bugs that have been "fixed" but in reality have caused more issues.

Bring back races.

ADVERTISE AND GET THE TORRENT BACK OUT THERE!!!!!!!

Un-true. We had 115 people on and it lagged like a motherfucker and those days were still 100x better than Obsidian is atm.

Get BB to fix the broken stuff that has been disabled and forgotten about, or convince him to give his admins access to fix it. We will never have a player base like we had without dedication. I hugely admire the fact that BB has managed to keep the shard up for all these years, but the day to day operations, in-game repairs, simple bug squishing, and player relations has gone nearly untouched by the upper echelon for years now. 1 out of 20 new players will stay longer then a week under the current situation, with 1 in 100 staying on to become a Vet. Adding a torrent now rather then after the admin issue is addressed would be detrimental. It would only turn away potential Vets quickly, and forever. We don’t only want them to try the shard out, we want them to stay and be part of the community. Right now, they won’t stay.

i know i'm new here but it seems to me it wold be great to realy fix alot of the disabled things and open the game back up that may keep people here but as far as new people ide say another torrent would be good
