Yeah- Did that. Still running into the same error. Any other ideas? Thanks for the timely response, btw.

Post subject:  A new twist

Just out of curiousity I tried running obsid after disabling my wireless card. Lo and behold the program then, for the first time, allowed me to get so far as a "Cannot connect to patch server" error. Figuring maybe it was the wireless card having a conflict I tried connecting directly to my router and disabling the wireless. Same ol error as above screenshot, though. I do feel I've made some painfully backward progress, but it's the most progress so far...

ok i will help you here. your problem is neither uo, or obsidian, its... i had this error when trying to run a shard(its only a personal shard witch i bareley go on, but i enternain myself with making scripts and such for it, LOL) , but i fixed it, just gimme 30 mins to figure out what it was hold on.

Edit: nvm i see u fixed that error, but u need the .net framework 1.1 with the service pack. thats what i had to do to fix that error on my machine, i had 1.1 but not the servive pack, and that is what fixed it on my comp/

yeah- so now check this out: I install the 2.0 beta of .SUX and for the first time i don't get the above screenshot error- it seems to finally actualy start the patcher, and then the patcher gets a "blah blah has encountered a serious error and needs to close". Sounds like I'm still up the creek, but I'm hopeful- as we seem to have overcome a .NET problem to run into and Obsid incompatability with the beta of .NET 2. That is to say- I'd rather have the patcher start working before it fails, then never start at all, i suppose. Thanks again to everybody who is trying to help-
