Doing a fun contest to see who can help us design a new logo for Obsidian. I know a professional graphics artist who I'm asking to also help out, but concidering she knows nothing about Obsidian it might not have the FEELING we're looking for and what we might get out of the player base. There is NO prize for this contest other than being recognized as the artist who designed the new logo. This logo will be used on Obsidian merchandise including T-Shirts, Mousepads, Mugs etc. We are also going to be wearing obsidian logo T's at the 1,000 man LAN and will be distributing flyers using this logo.

Rules:
- Deadline is August 1st
- Logo must say "Obsidian", "Obsidian Shard", "OBSIDIAN", or "OBSIDIAN SHARD"
- Work has to be original, no stolen artwork
- You may use the UO logo as part of the logo
- You may use Ultima runes or Gargoyle language
- Work with high resolution graphics for any drawn work and any font work keep in original vector format because it must look good at multiple sizes for use on the web and on printed material.
- Do not put logo on a background. For presentation reasons you can put one in your photosphop or illustrator file, but keep it a seperate layer so we can remove the background for T-Shirts and various other uses.
- Subset any fonts you use or make the text into a path
- Submitions must be in PhotoShop or Illustrator formats
- Submit final works to [email protected]
- Best submittions will be posted on the boards for a vote

Are we allowed to take screenshots from the game and include them in the logo? ie cropping a ss to use certain things

including links on disc to website

No we would be asking for original art for offering a free online game for 5 years straight.

You know what I'm saying. Could get a cool logo and make awesome tshirts, and make a fortune if it catches on. Besides if you are making tshirts out of it, I think the artist should get one. Makes sense to me.

Can anyone tell me how one can use layer effects on vectors without rasterizing?

you cant unless u do a gradient mesh or gradient blend, no filters

no I think you spelled it rigth Abib, I just finished a rough draft of a logo, and I think it turned out quite nicely. I'll post it tomorrow see what people think.

Please don't post. I don't want people to get ideas off other people. I'd rahter see compeltely unique ideas submitted to me and then I'll post the final ones I choose anonymously not saying who made them.

im proud to be a gamer. i own and stuff and my friends get owned by me and maybe theyre like gay and stuff and i pwn them but that still doesnt mean they cant like pwn noobs and get their frag count up when im like asleep and not owning the server and stuff.
