<--- new player

as i said b4 i like this shard so dont' get me wrong but heres what i think would help and please tell me here are a few things

1. Fix Broken skills / Races - it would add to the fun being able to chose something other than warrior witch is real what your limited to from the start

2. more Pk free places - Don't get me wrong PvP i cool but as i see it there are to many players that have 150 str and are 8x gm and i've been worken my char for like a month or so and if i ran into any pvper ide stand no chance at all and i can't realy go out and hunt anywhere for money or to train but brit graveyard kinda sucks

3. more cheeper regs - i know what people will say but as it stands mages are imposable to train unless you are a vet

i'll think of some more if you like but i gota go make dinner

well... i'm still a noob and i made it this far with the reg and pk situation... so i dont believe that the point would be to make obsidian into such an easy ride. also unfair to ppl who busted their balls.

one idea for promoting the site might be adding a link or banner on your myspace page as some of you already have done or a link on your site if you have one. Id love to do it to the tales but due to rules of some i link to its not permitted unfortunately. But there is a mention to dx gaming there at the bottom to which those who are curious would search and theres a link on the dx gaming site. I know its not much but myspace is pretty popular and ppl always nose at others contacts and links. if it pops up a few times curiosity normally gets the better of ppl and theyll try it

This is really great work. Thanks for all the suggestions people...

PLEASE try and keep them on-topic. That includes not accusing staff members of corruption, those of you who think this is acceptable on the public boards need to grow up.

All the useful bits I will sift through and suggest to the admin. So far we have:

- Word of mouth
- More Events, noob events and Quests... and active staff presence
- More player rewards / incentives
- Stop people making accusations towards our counselors fuelled by hear'say with no evidence
- Advertise the shard on UO listings and other sites, and VOTE
- Advertise (and seed) an active torrent
- BB active / More dev time
- Fix issues that reduce player fun/interest (eg lack of race selection)
- Fix bugs, *especially* those with PvP
- Ensure lag-free
- Improve the ecnomony (this makes crafting more rewarding)
- PK free noob/crafter areas?

And for the record, GM's can see Counselors while invisible. If *ANY* Counselor was seen stalking players to find PK targets then I would ban them on the spot. We have *never* seen Phantom do anything of the sort.

Do NOT contioue to discuss this on the forums. If you have evidence, PM me. Otherwise, shut up.

This really has nothing to do with getting new players but more keeping the ones we do get. It seems when talking to new chars some are not aware of the forums and as such can not access the information that it can provide. I wonder if it would be possible to have town cryers give out a message with the link and let ppl know that they can get in game help there as well.

I think you are better off starting as a warrior anyway. Even if regs were cheaper it would still be a better idea. With a warrior, (wether it's PvP or PvM,) it is alot easier to fight with, so you can learn the basics. Ex; healing with bandies, pots, using poison even targetting. Trust me using a mage is not as easy as you think. It is not something that i would want to start on. Plus when you have been around for a while you get an idea of the skills you should start with depending on what you want to do with your mage and it saves alot of wasted training, fff, time etc.
