under the old system there were crappy mages and good mages, and there were crappy warriors and good warriors. I've beaten them all, but the best mages beat me more then I beat them.......it was slightly unbalanced, and that was actually a very good thing for the shard....

The mages that were at the top of their game loved being on top, so they logged in to keep their status. The warriors who were at their heals logged in to get better and find and try new ways to win...sometimes things worked, sometimes they didn't..but it was fun...at least for me.

It's just not fun anymore. Maybe because of the player base, maybe because of the PvP, or PvM...but i think it's mainly because things just got too complicated and time consuming. Back then I knew what I had to do to be competitive, and I could see myself making gains towards that top level in various categories. Now it's almost impossible to reach the top level in any one thing much less multiple things.....there's just a feeling of going nowhere.

The argument that in the past mages were stronger than warriors was not necessarily true. it was 'easier' to be better at pvping with a mage as most warriors did not have the skill or timing to compete as it took alot more practise.

But the most experienced warriors who really knew their characters could stand toe to toe with the top mages. It's a lost art for most of the players. I actually used to train fighting two GM mages at once with guild mates so that when i was just fighting one mage it seemed much easier. It's very much like doing aerobic exercises while holding weights. When the weights are gone the movement is easier.

I once escaped up three levels of a dungeon. WITH a full pack so I couldnt run. While under ATTACK from *3* Red GM mages from The Returners (cue epic LOLS from GM Cybervic and GM Hydro who happened to be watching at the time). *All* by using line of sight to fizzle their spells. I actually received that tip from Duo earlier that morning, and it saved my life in the most incredible gank.

Another example: how many of you warriors when fighting a mage using a two handed weapon, equip your shield just before a spell hits? There are many tools you can use to help mitigate damage and survive.

I'd be interested to see how hard it is to adjust to the new PvP system. Maybe I can use Sir Thomas to playtest with some of you.

I like to think that my feedback might be useful to BoB because I've arguably spent more time in warrior PvP than anyone else on this shard. I used to live in this game, lol. Hours, and hours, and hours each day... and I used to spend it all scrapping (PvE is for girls ha ha). It's nice to see that some of you remember :0)

If you're interested in helping feel free to send me a PM. And yes, I haven't 'played' this game for years so I will really suck. Perhaps it would make some of you happier about the balance if you were able to playtest it openly with a member of staff?

Sir Thomas is an RP character that is usually used for events, but as he is built as a warrior he is very useful for playtesting whenever there are changes in the PvP balance on the shard.

Not least because when I was a player I was an extremely experienced PvP warrior, so it doesnt normally take me that long to adjust to changes.

Rest assured, however, that I will suck at first. It's been a long time, lol.

It would be nice if I could 'play' with you properly, but although my honesty has been proven beyond reproach GM's are not allowed to actively play their characters.

Counselors and Seers are allowed to play on their character accounts as well as staff, GMs are not.

Believe this was a rule made by Blinkers, which is probably why Thassius wont use his player account.

Actually it was more out of growing bored of warrior pvp that made me make boogie, it had nothing to do with mages being better. But even before boogie i did pretty good against most mages even with the insane healing fails and the fact that i was human and had no racial abilities as most warriors did, and only about 50 or so resist.

I find it hilarious tho that the only ones who say they love the new system are the ones who always got there asses handed to them in the old system.

i agree, but not with ppl who are loving the new system..
actually venom loves the new system so as crimson and spawn.. and they were good in t3a too.. but they just found their ways.

anyways, i wasn't very good in t3a, but i was very good only against warriors.. i killed Bane in a 1v1 to join cult in t3a and he was one of the best warriors in that time.
i also remember when i was in dark legacy, Ereaser got Lpl, Gaffer and Diablo at once.. 3 warriors vs a mage.. 3v1 in a wall.
im not saying mages were overpowered in t3a.. but the Very strong warriors were the only who used to face mages.. for example: The best was a warrior "Count Croxton".

i do like the new system.. but exept few things and i posted them in the other thread in "combat balance" and they are poison potts and animals.. they are the very annoying things in pvp atm.

Deathwish and gaffer were so hard to beaten before bob added the new controlling system.. when they used to spam 10 unshrunk bears in a fight.
after bob added the new controlling sysetm of animals, all ppl got happy cus ppl had like 3 free days out of animals fights.. then Silk showed up with his 40 animal lore and showed cheap fights again.. but now, WOW all ppl switched into races to just train animal lore just like (Falin, Gaffer, Venomous and etc) and the rest are enjoying their 40 animal lore and saying they are enough to fight with 2-3 bears.
and Tamers.. OHH The best now? go train some magery on ur tamer just like Hook and u will be the best.. OR WAIT!! don't train magery 30 magery is just enough.. just wall and summon 10 bears in 2 seconds just like Klis Telvez then recall out.. come back and loot
anyways im just saying that bears are so stupid.. we arent fighting each other.. ppl are just using their animals to fight and watching the enemy's hp to get at low so they finish him with an attack .. thats why the animals making the pvp cheap and made alot of ppl stop playing or just pvping.

i really enjoyed the pvp in the fire tournament when we had to summon only 3 bears in a fight.. thats why im not against the whole pvp in t4a.. i know its good but ppl aint trying.. they are just spamming animals

Gaffer the reason why they cant have a player is mainly because people acuse staff of cheating all the time and a player that is as good as pvp and have unlimited powers people will start saying things. its pathetic.

lmao if peopel are actulyl trainign animal lore so that they can use bears they r f****** sad. if they have a mage they should use spells to fight if ur a warrior u use mele simple your whole char should evolve around animals which si another reason why pvp sucks atm

Actually, I used to hand Croxton's ass to him every time we fought. He wasn't actually that good, I could never understand his reputation.

Elleberation was alot better, now that dude had some skillz and tought me quite alot.

i saw count croxten only 2 time what the diff between him and any warrior he only have aweosme wepaons that is all nothing more same skills and same stats that any player can have it

It's not just weapons, skills and stats....it's how you use them.....and more importantly, how you can incorporate them with things that are not skills, stats, or weapons to make those 3 things more effective.

then there's timing. No matter how good your gear and stats are, no matter how well you can use the environment, and no matter what tricks you can muster, it's all meaningless if you don't know exactly when to use it all.

good pvpers aren't the players who got full stats/skills, it depends on how you pvp how you time ur potts and stuff, and how smart you are.

and me and gaffer had some funny days with count croxton.. u just don't remember well.. we used to hunt with his pvm mage (solitude or something).. or you might didn't know it was him.
and ya i can't deny that Croxton was a good pvper.. i just used to call him the best one.
