lol im sure the best nfl players would be dominant at rugby and would be way fast.
i would like to see some rugby whiteboy stop a guy like LT...hes 5'10" and 221 pounds! Hes medically obese and he runs a 4.3!
And besides wearing the pads makes it a little more challenging, the pads some people wear can weigh you down quite a bit..i have some football buddies with thick ass necks because the helmet weighs on them so much.

i think the pads kind of add a challenge, but this argument will go on forever

So roughly 100 kilograms

Your average rugby player will be about that with the front rowers being upwards of 120 kilos which is around 265 pounds.

If that's a nfl giant then check out someone like John eels from rugby - he stood at 2 metres and weighed 115kg.
That's 254 pounds with a height of around 6'6".

its simply unrealistic to believe rugby players would have any chance against the stars of the nfl, if they were as good, theyd be in the nfl.

american football players get paid a lot more even the shitty ones get millions.

its not just a matter of size or strength the nfl have the fastest, strongest, most skilled human beings on the planet, because they pay them the most money.

even if their salaries were equal, some nfl players make more off of endorsements than they do their entire careers actually playing, no rugby player that thought he had the skill to be successful in the nfl would turn down the chance.

as far as the two sports go, sure, rugby is the tougher sport, but nfl have the better athletes.

you really cant count the lineman as they are overweight for a reason, they will never have to run far, their purpose is to provide mass to "move the pile".

so really im comparing the playmakers in the nfl to the rugby players, who are all in awesome shape, but it takes more than that to be in the nfl, you have to actually have skill to go along with top notch speed and strength.

you could pick the running back of most any nfl team and he could go to the rugby leagues and become the #1 player.

lol imagine those rugby guys trying to stop larry johnson from going over that line or whatever i dont know a lot about rugby but i have watched it and no one would be able to stop grandma or jacobs or bettis or someone like that from getting over the line at will.

and lt would just run by everyone every single time no one would ever be able to touch him once he got a step into open field.

lol ok i just checked the rugby leagues team salary caps, a top nfl player makes about double what an entire rugby team makes per year.


so pretty much a player could make more in one year playing for the nfl than he could the rest of his career playing rugby.

Well argued lol. Yeah NFL players are the better athletes AND they get paid a shit ton more for it. But I doubt they could just up and move to competitive rugby.

P.S Jimmy you're crazy mofo for comparing NFL to rugby - two different games, two totally different types of players.

The guy i was referring to isnt really a giant hes just an incredible athlete. Hes not too tall yet hes super strong and runs incredibly fast. Im just referring to how athletic some of these guys are.
For example, what i meant by a 4.3 is that in football most players have their 40 yd run timed (which is about 36 m) and this specific rock solid man runs it in 4.3 seconds. Hes 220 pounds vs the fact that hes about 1.8m tall and still runs that fast is just crazy.

(feels kind of weird talking so good about LT when the phins have to crush them this weekend. maybe i should start talking about ronnie brown. :P )

I just wanna say im not taking anything away from rugby though, ive seen some of it and it just makes me think how crazy it must be to play it. Ill admit rugby is definitely tougher to play, but i believe the more athletic guys are the american football players.
