Kigger wrote:i never afked mining, my beef with the system is that i loved when the ores dropped, cause i could see my path and make sure i get every tile in the mine, now i get lost having to box up my ores, and what not. U can make em drop if u box up a ton of ores, then mine and pic up your box before u get the ore and it drops but that gets to annoying. and ashes u raised mining from 30 to 70, but i am sure alot of that came from bought/donated ores.
I found that just droping the ores in piles as you go along the path is helpful, just migrate the piles as you go through the mine. I honestly think I'm clearing mines faster doing this.

I'm sure we will all work on some co-ordinated efforts!

I expect that, as soon as the patch has been implemented and BB is back around (looking at bugfixes, tweaks, additions etc) alongside our other admin, then the next step will be: recruitment.

Of course, the players are as pivotal in this as we staff are, so once the aforementioned has taken place we will all be sitting down together and working on ways to get the numbers back up.

Of course, making the client accessible (such as an active torrent) is great, but I agree with Ashes that an 'official' torrent link would be the best option by far. By the very nature of Bittorrent, it's best to have everyone seeding the same torrent than to have the client available from different sources - particularly with the risk of currupt downloads etc.

Anyway, I'm glad to see the enthusiasm from you all, and I'm sure you will all get the chance to do your bit to increase the playerbase soon!

Voting is always good, and by all means keep doing it!

However, there is concern about voting players towards a shard that very much needs admin attention right now; particularly in fixing PvP (which is pretty much broken right now thanks to the invul bug and the healing delay system).

The concern is that we do not want to give people an image of the shard when it is in need of tweaking. My personal experience of BB is that he will be wanting himself (and the existing players) to be as happy as possible with any new changes before there is an influx of new players.

BB *has* vowed not only to implement a new patch but look at new bugfixes/tweaks/additions as well, so personally I'd be more inclined to say...

Wait until BB, CV and co have worked their magic - THEN we can go for the big recruitment drive + voting. You will also find that with BB back to rally the troups, there will be more, bigger, and better events ran by staff of all levels.

Also, if you have an issue with the shard or an idea, please contribute to BB's thread about patch suggestions; also please feel free to create a thread in the bugs and suggestions forum if you feel it is neccessary. Any serious bugs should be PMed to a GM.

Personally, I'm going to be doing another moderator recruitment drive as well after the above has been done. This means an opportunity for those of you who are interested to try your steps along the way to being ingame staff. It also means that we will be looking at the possibility of appointing new counselor(s) from the existing moderators.

Watch this space :)

Gee.....

I think it's a bit harsh to say PvP is 'broken' Thass...

There's a couple of small things that, if fixed, would make it perfect (please don't talk about that in this thread!!!)

But I think you're right - AFTER the 'october' patch, THEN we should get on the recruitment trail!

It might just be me, but it SEEMS like there are a few more players this month than last?

When I say 'broken', I meant that we are acknowledging there are issues - and that they are on the agenda to be fixed. I was not intending to say that PvP does not work... I guess broken was the wrong word!

BB's (and everyone else's) work is fantastic, and the way that PvP works here different from other shards is simply remarkable and I believe Obsidian is the best, most intuitive, and most fun PvP environment of ANY shard. In fact almost any game!

However, after listening to extensive feedback from the players (including the top/most active PvPers whose opinion is important), as well as my own experience, it is quite apparent that pvp at the moment does have some fairly glaring issues.

For instance, if confronted by an opponent repeatedly using the invuln bug - or if fighting a warrior with huge dex and a ridiculous healing delay - or if fighting two warriors with 2-second delay crossheals on each other - then you would be quite right to say that it is 'broken'.

The reason I discuss this in this thread is because I believe (again, agreeing with ashes here :!: ) that the pvp system is one of the best ways to encourage (and keep) new and existing players! So I think that this needs to be addressed before we can build the playerbase once more. In this respect I'm encouraging all of you to field your ideas and/or concerns in the Bugs & Suggestions forum. I will be pruning any off-topic posts in BB's patch suggestion thread accordingly.

Thanks

i say we should make it where like xhealing is like 20secs inbetween for any one not mattering how much dex and yeah the dex stuff is annoying can hardly fight anymore becasue of it and i have tried many other shards and pvp there is horrible like you cant run when casting and junk and it takes forever to heal lol i like obsi becasue of teh casting thats one of teh best things about obsi you can heal while running :D

what the hell is that xheal. never heard of it

xheal is healing someone else, and with 2 good healers its very hard to kill xhealers. Like in an FFA if u got a pile of xhealers in a lump, they most likely wont be dieing anytime soon. When fights are based on who runs outta aids/ regs first, pvp is broken. Pvp here is alright not top choice imo. PVP is what gets people to come to a shard, if fights were a thousand times faster, and if it was based on actual skill of a player, then it would be better. IMO pvp is about split second timing, obs has to much of a buffer. Leet pvpers should never have a fight lasting more than 10 mins ever. Fights should last 2-3 mins. I like fast fights with fast action. just my 2 cents
