It's a scary what’s going on over there. My thoughts and prayers are with those involved. I don't think it will be WW3 though. Israel has a clear agenda when the fighting will stop...Syria is selling Iranian arms to Hezbollah, but that’s about as much support as they will get for the foreseeable future. Fears of going before the UN security Counsel has caused Iran to hint that they will accept the Nuke deal put on the table by the EU and US on August 22 (which was the deadline they set for themselves). Iran will look out for Iran. The people in Tehran know that going to war with Israel will jeopardize their chances at a peaceful resolution to the Nuke standoff with the west, which is close to being resolved. Syria will grudgingly go along with whatever Iran suggests, and despite harsh words from Tehran, Iran does NOT want a war, especially now. From what I understand, most of the Arab world believes that Hezbollah started the conflict, which gives justification to Israel to continue the bombings. The only way this will escalate is if the main Arab players begin to think Israel is taking the bombings too far, which I don’t think President Bush would allow, and I like to think the Israelis are too smart to let happen. |

I just like to stay informed on world events. Unfortunately, it looks like Israel might be preparing to go for a land grab back into Lebanon. If that happens all bets are off, and I'm getting recalled to New Mexico.
