After being referred to this shard by a dear friend I decided to fire up the old UO and give it one more shot. I heard pretty good stuff about this shard; real professional atmosphere, spot-on old school UO feel, good economy, etc. I'm pretty interested to see how well this will turn out for me; as it is I'm awaiting the completion of my Obsidian client download.
I've must've went through at least a hundred other UO shards. Some shards I stayed for a while -- others I left within 10 minutes. I've passed through a classic goodie called "In Por Ylem" -- I'm sure the majority of you guys know what that shard was about. I even took my stay in a completely custom UO shard, but then things got stale after a while and I left UO completely to go play World of Warcraft. Good game, good mechanics, I guess. Really bored of WoW now, hoping this shard might spark up some interest in UO again .
Oh and I'm an insomniac, by the way. Don't go thinking I'm an early riser; because I'm not! Hah. <3
What's up brodies!?

I know...old ass topic, but w/e.
I've spent some time lately on the shard mentioned above. Good shard. Lots of players. Generally biased on UOR with some custom twists. The owner seams to be attentive...he replied to my E-mail within 10 minutes and resolved my issue right away.
When obsidian regains it's former glory I'll jump back in without a second thought. In the meantime IPY reminds me of what obsidian was when I first joined.

IPY is really nothing like obsidian
goodbye
It's shinier, louder, more complicated though a deeper experience doesn't follow.. it isn't obsidian of any timeframe. Now go buy some "ogre coins" gayest coins ever, for real money.. Have fun with that.

I have tried lots of shards some were good some bad but none were obs. Obs is definately unique. In T3A and T4A as well. Not that i am blaming bob, we all have real life stuff that keeps uis from devoting as much time to the shard but obs will never make a comeback until we have an active developers, account creation that doesn't take 2+ months and active in game staff.

I don't think anyone said it was like obsidian....I said it reminds me of Obs....nothing is like obsidian, but this shard makes me think of the good old days here.
As for the real money....I thanked BB with cash and ill do the same for Az (shard owner of IPY). It's cheaper then going to the movies, and last longer. Running these things is far from free, and if I'm going use his hardware for countless hours of enjoyment, it's the least I can do.

This will help atleast revive the shard maybe someone can offer to help design a new website for obsidian with instant account creation and active staff members in game. Plus advertising. The shard to UO players in other shards.

I'm not blaming anyone obviously because managing a shard is a large time investment. Some of us hardly have time to get on (myself included) so I can understand.
All this shard needs at this point is account creation and an email to all the old accounts of obsidian mentioning whats new and stuff. Obviously that would require a few active staff for different portions of the day for events and answering questions. But really that's it, that will build a decent player base alone
Until then, there's not much to do here. My characters are done, there's no events, no pvp drama, and that lunars vamp quest is impossible.
People are just waiting for this shard to make a come back...myself included. For now, it's a matter of having fun elsewhere...that's all.
