To all new players who are patiently waiting on their account info so they can log into Obsidian shard - first, I would like to say hello and welcome to Obsidian!
Don't worry that it takes a little longer to get into obsidian than it does on most shards, there is a very good reason why, so I'll try to explain.
Obsidian is the
oldest free running shard, it has
NEVER had a player wipe, it is ran by a responsible staff and not just a bunch of guys who thought it was cool to have a shard - Obsidian is here to stay.
I personally am just a normal player here. I am in no way in charge of anything, but that's how this community works - the players here have passion for the game, and once you get started I believe you will see why.
I have played the majority of the shards out there and I can tell you as an experienced, hardcore ultima online player - there simply is no comparison to Obsidian anywhere else on the net!
Ok, on to the explanation.:
Q:- "Why do i have to wait to get in game, why not just auto account like all the shards in uo gateway?"
A:- "There are many reasons for the 'hassle' of getting account info..."
The main one being that Obsidian allows only one account per person, your ip will be logged and it will be used to make sure you only have one account. This keeps things fair, but staff will work with you if a family member needs a seperate account. Just PM an admin (such as Broadband or Hydro) with an explanation.
If you lose your username or password, you can use the email you registered with to retrieve it. Obsidian is an elite community, it stands to reason that a player worthy of being in our world is willing to take a few minutes to put their details down.
Obsidian is ran by very experienced people, who are professionals in their fields, that being said, our shard is extremely secure and has a custom patcher, hence the need for the seperate download of a custom client.
We also have a busy forum staffed predominantly by Thassius and the moderator team, who (along with the rest of our community) will be more than happy to answer any questions you have to help you get into the game.
